You really need to re-calibrate your definition of a "kid" being under 25. While specs aren't everything, they certainly are dozens of android games worth playing if you bother to google an android game review site. Will also require removing console sunglasses to try something new. For exclusives, you could try any run of the mill emulator (but they wont be the lastest ones). More like nes, snes, ps1, genesis, etc.

Xi3 rumor had it on par with next gen consoles at $399. That's not a high end pc by any stretch.
Supposedly there wil initially be 3 models. Good, better, and best. $399, 599 and 999. Depending on the hardware.

Ya I agree with that. If your on a budget, consoles are a very good value + depending and what your friends are playing on, can have a lot of social value too. However your still paying more for games & that $50-60 annual fee to play online.

PC only. Next gen consoles aren't powerful even to do 1080p x2 resolutions.
Unfortunitely consoles OS (same with how it is now), will not optimized for an ssd, so you wouldn't see any difference at all.
So then your not getting either next gen console I take it. Since your limited a lot vs pc gaming. Ok got it.
PC gaming is already at 2500x1600. Sad that next-gen consoles will struggle to reach 1080p for a few years (if even then).
At least we will finally be using dx11, pc cpu, and a lot of ram, so there's that.

I agree with your 1-2% Linux usage, however, with people so disappointed in windows 8 + plus if steam OS makes it better optimized for gamers, you could see the tides turn in their favor.
Ps4 is underpowered compared to pc, fact, get over it. They will offer a good system for the price but still, underpowered.
Nvidia is wise to align with steam now that they have the momentum. In the past Linux is less than 1% of pc users so why would they bother spending resources on that?
Steam OS has a small chance to make a tiny dent in next-gen console sales, but not this underpowered Xi3. Also that small form that sits under your pc desk and never to be glanced at anyway.
