The PS3 is still bringing out new features like 3D and Move support and the games are still looking noticeably better than their predecessors such as Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3 not to mention that Sony will want to milk the hardware as much as possible to recoup as much as they can from the hard hit they took at the start of this gen. A nice article. I wish we got something for the time we put into games. Props to Sucker Punch for giving me extras for my platinum on inFamous. While I don't think they will give DLC away because of financial reasons, it would be nice to get a little something of a bonus for our trophy chasing and putting the time in especially online. A weapon unlock, skins, themes, avatars, etc.
I think you might be right. UC3 releases late 2011. Naughty Dog builds a new engine and game and takes an extra year doing it to release on PS4 in 2014. But only time will tell. Each generation they start a new franchise so I'm not sure.

I tried to play spy vs mercs but I ran into so many people glitching that I just gave it up. The SP of the Splinter Cell games is what I'm waiting for though I will definitely give the MP another go when the HD trilogy is finally released.
I don't think it's so much a matter of money but more of devs shifting too much to online portions of games and the real meat of the games is getting 2nd rate treatment as I said below. Games are becoming more about MP and less about SP aspects such as story, characters and development, and gameplay. This is hurting the overall quality of games as many people never even touch SP components and devs know it. As much as I like MP I think it is hurting games.

It's COD but more than that I think it's multiplayer in general. SP portions of games and thus the real meat of the game itself is quickly becoming an adjunct and nothing more. I know too many people that don't even play SP anymore and I think it is hurting game quality in general.

I'm also very worried that Battlefront 3 will never come. I would at least like an HD remake of Battlefield 1 & 2. I put in so much time with those games especially Battlefield 2. The levels were so good. I loved using Jedi and Sith for the battles. Please at least give us HD remakes.
I gotta agree with killerhog and thugbob. I thought Killzone 2 was much more enjoyable. The only thing I didn't like in KZ2 was Rico's mouth. Otherwise I thought the level design was better, the dark and gritty look was better, and I liked the MP better as well. Killzone 3 actually disappointed me because they tried to make it too much like COD and Crysis. They lost the Helghan edge in the atmospherics and lights. I have been craving a new SSX for a looong time. I tried Shaun White Snowboarding but that just didn't do it for me. I loved previous SSX games and am glad to hear they are getting back to the roots that made the series great. Can't wait for January.

This is EXACTLY why I never play COD online anymore. Every room I go into it's like this yet I've never experienced it in any game except COD series. How can someone not know how to put on a headset but know how to speak like this? It's no surprise this country is falling so fast.

That video was hilarious and actually pretty accurate. Completely different styles of play and attitudes which is why I never play COD anymore online.

Far Cry 2 is definitely rough but I'm only 2 trophies away from Plat in Bad Company. Trying to get the "20 teammate spawn" trophy and the "however many kills online" trophy. Sadly my BC1 game stopped reading in my PS3 and I have moved on to BC2.
