I agree tho, Cooking Mama is one of those type of games. So far it's the only Wii game that I've returned but I have some friends that like it. Just not my bag o' beans I guess.

lol, I remember getting so frustrated playing this game. The artistic style and humor in this game series is topnotch tho.
That number sounds about right. But keep in mind that those are worldwide sales, and these Phantom Hourglass sales numbers are only for Japan.
Why do ppl always bring up Cooking Mama as if it were the defining Wii game? It'd be like me treating Bomberman: Act Zero as the defining 360 game, or Sonic the Hedgehog as the defining PS3 game.
And yet there is nothing wrong w/ making games geared toward family fun because the essence of any form of gaming is fun. Why is focusing on the fun aspect of gaming instead of the artistic aspects necessarily a bad thing? It's only a bad thing to those who overvalue graphics.
I can understand extending negativity toward Nintendo for shifting toward casual gaming as long as that same negativity is extended toward other gaming firms who choose to do the same. No double standa...

Wow, so Nintendo gets hated on for going after the casual gaming market and expanding the gaming audience, but no one has anything bad to say about MS when they announce the same?
This seems pretty innovative for a console game. As long as the in-game editors are easy to use, it should be a fun title.
This game is currently eating up all of my freetime. The plot, gameplay mechanics, sounds, difficulty level, graphics, and $30 pricetag make this a MUST for Wii owners.
It sure seems to be headed in that direction. Great news for me as I have a hard time falling asleep on plane flights and an array of RPGs on my DS is the perfect solution =)
The original news story makes no indication of a new channel. It simply says, "these games will be built specifically for the Wii and sold via the Wii Shop Channel for Wii Points currency"
New Wii channel or not, this is great news for gamers and developers alike. Obviously for gamers it means more games, but I'm more excited about it from a developer's standpoint.
