I've ordered the 5 movies that you get when you buy it, and I've already bought 5 more. Not bad for 6 days. People who buy stand alones buy movies not games. Thats why even though PS3s alone out number HD-DVD players almost 10-1 the sale of Blu-Ray movies over HD-DVD isn't quite 2-1.
The interesting thing is it will be far easier for Toshiba and others to double or even triple the number of stand alone players than it will be for the PS3 to double its numbers.
Its only 4 or 5 stories down the list.
a joke to east and west coast snobs, but Walmart and Kmart are where midamerica shops. This is not a good thing for Blu-Ray. Especially not with Walmart now running network TV ads for the Toshiba standalone players.
two or three weeks ago. Folks should check a little closer.

There was a Walmart/Toshiba HD-DVD player Christmas ad on NBC. When was the last time anyone saw an ad for HD players in either format on national television.
I have nearly 4000 songs on it, and over 150 music video's and I've only used about 2/3 of its capacity. It's video playback looks great.
Money. The band width that channels are leased by the FCC can be broken up into multiple sub-channels with digital transmission. Most stations that have made the conversion have at least 2 sub-channels that they use for varying purposes. Going to 1080p transmission requires an increase in bandwidth that would cut the number of available sub-channels in half. This would increase the cost of transmission equipment while reducing the available amount of ad space.
So, 1080p whi...
all my LPs, quite a few dating back to the 60's. I listen to them fairly often. I've also recorded most of them as MP3s for my players and streaming. But nothing beats the sound of the Dave Brubeck quartet on vinyl.
I really like their Civil War Game.
Unfortunately, it is big and bulky and heavy. A 46 inch LCD weighs in the neighborhood of 50 to 80 lbs. My 46 inch Hitachi CRT system weighs over 170 lbs.
I was there when the store opened, but even so two guys were in the checkout line ahead of me with the HD-A2. The lower price is getting buyers.
Incidentally, I picked up the Transformers movie in HD on my sisters recommendation. I didn't really care for it that much, a bit to juvenile for my taste, but I must say it looks abso-bloody-lutly awesome.
before HDMI was added as a standard on HDTVs, but it did have DVI. I hooked my satellite tuner up to DVI but ended up going back to component, as I honestly could not see a difference, and the component connections made hooking all my gear up to the A/V receiver easier.
To the jack ass that disagreed:
Wow! I guess I didn't hook my gear up that way. Man, I wonder what the hell made me think I did?
one of them from release day. They both work perfectly. I have spent many weekends playing games for hours. I did 10 hrs on Forza 2 last saturday. So much for over heating.
with an HDA30. Two guys made the line ahead of me, and bought HDA2s for $197. That was in the first fifteen minutes the store was open. I think the price drop is already taking off.

three HD TVs and 4 stereo systems tend to disagree (about the Blu-Ray at any rate). And the reason I said I would take the first system under $200 is because I knew that would be the system that ended up winning due to being in the price range most buyers would accept. Joe Six-Pack is not an audio/videophile spending thousands to watch the Super Bowl; neither is he a video gamer. What he is, however, is the "decider-in-chief" of which format gets bought and eventually wins out. ...
I'll probably get this pack. For 600, no way.
This weekend I'll buy the Toshiba. I expect the lowered price to make HD-DVD sales explode (relatively speaking) this holiday season.
