They can still enforce it on their movies and games if they want. You can require it in on your content. That is how it works on PC's and most bluray players and X1. It is up to the content providers to require it.
It should have never been enforced globally to begin with. It is up to the content creators if they want to enforce HDCP, not the machine. I don't have any issues with any developers or producers who want to require HDCP, but that is something they need to decide, not Sony.
They should have just made a next gen system with the first try.
I would love to see a survival game in the wild like the movie The Grey. Just a group of players against the wolves, bears and the environment.

Both Sony and Microsoft reported that Netflix was the most used feature of their consoles last gen. I think they are just giving their users what they want.
Plus the two Halo series are meant to enhance the games, not take away from them.
Meh, personally I see these shows as being a very small risk. The documentaries are cheap to produce for the most part and the Halo series have been huge successes in the past. Risk factor is minimal.
You can also steal money from old people every day, there is no need to work.

I have had all launch consoles going back to the PS2. Not all of them can be good.
Yes, I am a developer haha. But the flooding of the store isn't an issue. Just have to curate it well. Apple App store has hundreds of thousands of apps, but they make sure the best apps get the most visibility. Can never have too much content.
Guess I will have to turn my PS4 on and see what is new.
