Discs are dying. Digital is now over 50% of all sales. What do you think it will be in 2 to 3 years when a PS5 should come out? I bet it will be well into high 70% of all sales. I bet with Kodera now at the helm they will be pushing more and more for online everything. Even in your fantasy that Sony will somehow treat discs differently (then they do now) by keeping the textures/data on discs that will work only for shrinking group of buyers. You know one of the reasons why they don't ...
It is faux outrage. I am sure the argument will suddenly disappear when the PS5 arrives in a few years with a 1TB unit. Just look how people were crying about the requirement (even though it was not true) of always having to be connected online to play even single player games on the original Xbox One. Somehow that outrage has all but fallen to the way side when the PS4 exclusive Grand Turismo Sport is online only for single player. What changed? It is not the Xbox, that is what changed....
If one were calculating spreadsheets or compiling programs or editing in Photoshop then that CPU becomes a more important determining factor. The fact is the reason this machine runs so well is because they designed to avoid most of the taxes that is applied to desktop CPU's to when doing the rendering. But, that is the problem with PC gamers because they have generic CPU's that are designed to grunt through work (designed to work in a variety of situations and not optimized for gami...
It is a lot less misleading then when a PC gamer comes in here and says and uses that most common of arguments "PC are better than consoles". No, that is 98% incorrect in the case of the X. According to DF this machine runs better graphically then an NVidia 1070 and according to Steam numbers less than 2% of it's own gamers have the better NVidia 1080 GPU. So, this machine will run better (games graphically) in almost situations than 98% of PCs. Sure both you and I have 1080...
Huge catalog of PS4 exclusive games is fallacy. 98% of games sold are multi-plat. Many of the games called PS4 exclusive are third party games and available on the PC as well (just not currently on the Xbox One - several third-party games that were once exclusive to the PS4 are now coming to the Xbox as well).
Not all consoles games make it to the PC. Then again PC does have many games that don't make it to the console as well. You need t...
You mean TLOU2 the game that won't be out for another 2 years. That TLou2? Sounds like Sony is desperate that they have pimp out TLOU2 so early to fend off the onslaught of positive announcements from developers about the X.
As for each company there are two things that tell you about each companies direction in their recent promotions of the heads that run them:
1. Phil Spencer being promoted to a company VP and directly reporting to the CEO not an...
Stop with the PC argument. That only works with less than 2% of gamers that own graphic hardware more capable then the X. Great for them but, for the other 98% that argument is false. You can't play those games at the same level or for many PC's you can't play them at all. Also if you bring of up exclusives many of the so called items of the PS4 exclusives list are only console exclusives and exist on the PC as well. I much rather keep PC out of this because in most cases it is ...
Bad example. That isn't even an original game just a reimagneering of an older game. Great you just proved reboots/redos were PS4 mainstay of exclusives for so long. And for the Xbox off the top of my head Ori and Ori II are both more beautiful and emotional lifting games and original designs to boot then PS4's RC rinse repeat edition approach. Super Lucky Tales, an original game from the ground up, looks as good and creative for the Xbox as Ratchet and Clank did for the PS4.
Damage control. This article is all about damage control from Sony. Ryan making some blanked statement that how games look implies PS4 Pro will be best for all games. Total baloney. Of course, their first party exclusives will look better on the Pro. How can you dispute that when they aren't available on the Xbox. No difference then saying Cuphead looks a lot better on the Xbox then the PS4 Pro version. How can you dispute something that is not possible situation. But, implying all gam...
If GAAS is not a growing priority for Sony then why did the promote Kodera to CEO. That is what he is known for. He was in charge of the creation of PSNow. Not some lackey in a suite; no he is the one that actually has pushed the PSNow service from the start. He was a lead in developing PS Vue. He was part of the team that created PS Plus. He is was also part of Sony's PS Music and PS Video services. He was a leader in the team that developed the PS Store. That is what he is known f...
@UCForce I can't wait SIE's new CEO John Kodera, the king of all things GAAS, start to really push PSNow (remember he is the proud father of that baby) and start making those PS4 first party exclusives arrive on the service at a faster and faster pace. And has been discuss even have original content for the service. Then where will you go with that PS4 true exclusive console argument? I suspect you will move those goal posts as usual and argue that PS4 is the only place you can ge...
I understand that logic. But, what about DLC and fixes. That adds up over time as well.
I do have a question and to be honest I don't own a Switch at the moment but my fiances son does . I peronslly said I was going to stand back for a year and see how the landscape was before I bought one. However, my question for those that have a Switch is about games fixes. How does the Switch handle fixes for games you bought the actual physical copy? Does it update the actual c...
No PSVR was supposed to be the next coming of Christ. And has barely reached 1.3% of PS4's owners and almost all 100 of those games are 15 minute tech demos. Now that was a real marketing coup on Sony to get people to buy dust collector.
As for flooded. Love how you make dig at the device by stating "slightly" even though many of those very articles that flooded said the notices were quite evident and slightly was not a word I can remember ever being used. O...
@bluefox755 No the Pro was according to Sony itself designed to compete with the PC. How silly is that argument.
According to Andrew House (you know the CEO at SIE at the time):
“I saw some data that really influenced me. It suggested that there’s a dip mid-console life cycle where the players who want the very best graphical experience will start to migrate to PC, because that’s obviously where it’s to be had.
Let's be real I have a Pro and many of what Sony call graphical enhancements I would call bare bones at best for several of the games that have been patched with so-called enhancements. However, several games do a good job with the extra Pro power. But, from my own experience mileage will vary of what developers have done for most PS4 Pro games in my own catalog this past year.
Somebody should put together a spreadsheet showing exactly what is enhanced for each game th...

@ImTrumPeach
Announcing the product was this past E3 not the previous with the teaser. Only a few had devkits by March (most were first party studios and few select third party developers like Bioware). The actual X hardware was not finalized until May. Microsoft kept everything close to the vest and only a select group were allowed a devkit. The actual devkit was not finalized until after E3. The majority of devkits were not shipped to the rest of game...
Not shocked by any of this. A few months ago I said this was coming. I looked at the SIE's new CEO, John Kodera, history of work at Sony and I said a quake is coming. But, I got down voted as a heretic who didn't understand anything. No, I understood what was happening just fine. Just look at what Kodera was involved in at Sony before he became CEO. Kodera is all about GAAS under Sony. He was the father of PSNow. PS Vue another online service. That was Kodera as well. He was involv...
I think people don't understand you are being sarcastic or you be getting barraged with down votes because, people actually believe that the evil of everything has it origins at Microsoft.
This isn't a Sony move any more than any other company making a game for the PSVR. Playful Corp makes VR games for other devices as well and is also making the platformer Super Lucky Tales for the Xbox. Star Child sidescroller is also arriving on consoles as non VR game.
For me I am a little disappointed. Basically this the same teaser trailer that was at the E3.
