@Mr_Writer85
You actually can replace the internal drive in an Xbox One. It is just not officially supported. Plenty of videos on how to do it on the net. I guess if you can replace a battery in a PS4 controller it shouldn't be much more difficult than that.
@porkchop
Tools. They talked about things that Azure gaming already has and does more of (actually Stadia is using some Azure gaming development e.g Havok). AWS also has many tools as well. Stacking GPUs again why? Look what we can do but at what cost? Using 2+ compute units per game seems like something no developer will use.
Grand scale BR is possible. I don't know why you think the servers would be any different than anybody else. It just turns out that no...
The title should be "PSNow vs XCloud vs Stadia..."
Disingenuous to compare a console to a streaming platform. Apples to oranges. Compare streaming possibilities from each company. Or consoles to consoles. Oh that is right Google doesn't have a console. Funny. Both Microsoft and Sony will have both - the full package : streaming and local play. Now that is what will drive gaming.
I remember when Google Fiber was going to change the world. ...
@Sgt_Slaughter Think harder. The same day this was announced it was also announced all of those PS exclusives from Quantic Dream are now coming to the PC.
Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls
Hyped: promote or publicize (a product or idea) intensively, often exaggerating its importance or benefits
I have seen mostly the opposite view from gaming forums I have visited that have been discussing Stadia. Most gamers seem to be annoyed or actually playing down the benefits of Stadia (the true opposite of hype). Don't get me wrong I am personally intrigued (not hyped) by Stadia. But, counting me does no...
This purely conjecture on my part but this local play advantage is where Microsoft and Sony (if they choose to as well) can take their streaming options and really have play anywhere but with the best options for gamers. Looking at the rumors (e.g. the recent rumor of packaged Xbox games running on Windows) MS could allow a person to buy a game once and play it on a PC / Xbox locally (directly as we do it today) and at the same time MS could possibly tie XCloud with Gold to allow game stre...
Either you are going to buy into streaming or not. The same issue will apply no matter the service you chose: Stadia or XCloud, And that issue is the infrastructure the end user relies upon. I suspect that XCloud will be as capable as Stadia, if not more so since Azure worldwide has the largest of all cloud presence of any company. The fact that MS has a large arsenal of property that can stream (first party alone) beats this service day one on content. You speak as XCloud has laid it's...
Nothing. No mention of how much anything will cost at any level. But, then again this was a developers conference announcement. So. it was primarily a glossy reveal for what it can do (or what it may do in the future) for developers rather than how much gamers will pay for things (cost of whatever the service will be, cost of controller). I definitely can't see it as buy a game and stream it for free. Not that such a move wouldn't be great from consumers perspective I just don't...
To be honest it will initially come down to cost. I think infrastrucure limiations (at least for user internet) will be the same for any game streaming option. I suspect there will be enough games to get people interested at first. But, what will it cost to actually play? Is multiplayer or the service itself a charge or just buy the game and everything comes with it? Is there a GP or PSNow component? So many uknowns for the gamer themselves. Are they not announcing these things now to s...
I am looking forward to what Microsoft has planned for XCloud. But, there were certain things about Stadia that intrigued me. One was the way multiplayer was going to be handle. As the presented it would drastically cut down on the latency (but, that could be all BS when scaled, who knows - still nice as presented). Another area that intrigued me was the capability for developers to integrate split screen technology not just locally but how it could be integrat...
Have you actually used XCloud or seen something other than a few seconds worth of video? No. Do you know what it can do? No. After watching the presentation if I were PSNow then I would be worried. about Stadia for sure. As for Microsoft I think they will have to prove themselves but, until we see what it can do I wouldn't call it peanuts or anything else.
And what does vaible mean? For PSNow that is throwing a lot filler games on to the service.. They diefintley don't use any of that money to provide recent and worthy AAA games. I bet the average PS4 game is well over 3 years old on PSNow. Where is all that support going with first-party games? Not exactly a treasure of first-party games. The PSNow catalog of PS4 first party games is basically made up of 4 games from 2013/2014. Wow great work there Sony. Come on show me where Sony is ac...
One of the biggest points of contention for me in VR is all the entanglements. Being wireless would definitely get me more interested. And who says it couldn't be wireless? Oculus will release the Quest soon (Q1 or Q2 this year) and it is a completely self-contained VR system $399. Not to be confused with the current entry model the Oculus Go (also wireless and self-contained for $199). I don't expect the next PSVR2 to be self-contained (although that would be a killer feature) b...
Their mobile division has never made a profit, period. I don't know how Sony could be successful in making laptops as they no longer make laptops/desktops. Sony sold off there desktop and laptop division (Vaio) back in early 2014 to focus on mobile but, as pointed out already that hasn't worked out too well (most large investors want Sony shed the losing mobile division - phones and tablets). Movies only recently made money (first time in over 5 years) thanks to Marvel stepping and...
PSNow has >> much older << games. Not quite what most people want.
PSnow has no new content,
PSNow doesn't even have recent content (most is 3 years are older),
PSNow has very little exposure on the service of PS4 first-party games released in the last 4 years.
PSNow pads it PS4 numbers with multiple versions of the same game (e.g. four years of F1 Racing 2014-2017 yet not a single year for their own first-party MLB: The Show, not even ...
They are going to do the same thing with gaming that they have done with Google Fiber. That means drop the grandiose plans and get out a few years later after they realize how much work and money it takes.
Just like Google Cardboard but, with a less impressive display then the Android phones. Google cardboard has shipped over 10 million (3 times that of PSVR) with no effect on driving the mass appeal of VR. So, I suspect this will have even less overall mass appeal for VR. Well other than for a few Mario fans.
