I am confused here. Do echos return with more info are just the same sound? People for some reason say Microsoft just echoed what Sony talked about. But, in reality I can definitely say there was a great deal more info on the specs in this light reveal compared to the Cerny and those several pressers done by Sony the last month and half. Sure, not TF or MHz or exact amount of memory. Did anybody actually think 18 months out they were going to do more? However, this light reveal definitely pro...
I no fan of the XBox S all digital. But let's look at this from what you get compared to Stadia. The S you get to play locally, no need to stream gaming at 20GB per hour. You get access to thousands of games from this gen and previous gens if you so chose to invest in games digitally. Locally wins always over streaming. You can subscribe to Game Pass $9 and get hundreds of games. Many of those are new or 0-day. Not just a few scrappy old ones that Stadia will give you for subscribing f...
@opc
"If you just want to play Doom or Tomb Raider on your old laptop, with a gamepad that you already own... then you just have to pay for the game."
Yeah if you are using Windows or Linux and own the game already you can play locally. Is that your point? Otherwise, if you are referring to this service it requires a subscription to play anything and it is streaming only no local play. Owning a game always requires paying for the service. For example, if...
That is a good question. I know it does not work with the basic Chromecast. At the reveal, Google said it required the Chromecast Utra. They also said it will work with other controllers. Which begs the question then what good is the Stadia controller? It is supposed lower latency (does it really?) by communicating directly to the server (not to the device then the server) If other controllers work (via USB or Bluetooth) how is that going to affect your gameplay if you chose that option?
@Zeref
"In 2020 they will offer a free sub that presumable works without a chromecast."
A free AD bases service that is. Free is not free. And that "free" access to Stadia will max out at 1080p and 30fps. And it still requires you to purchase the games. At least the new games. You just have to sell your soul and watch ads during the game (or something of that sort) to avoid paying for the $12 subscription. Which means they will definitely have ...
Are you using math skills you learned from Google? If so, you might want to get a refund.
As of as of June 6th, 2019 Microsoft is worth over $918 billion. Which actually makes Microsoft worth more than Google ($721 billion) + 3 Sony's ($59 billion x 3) and you still have a little change over to buy around $20 billion worth of In-N-Out Double Doubles for you and your friends. Microsoft is the most valuable company in the world. Amazon is second at $833 billion and Apple...
Probably because this is not news but rather the title of this post is based on rumors and should have been noted as such. There is no official word on this aspect of the Game Pass Ultimate. Hence my restatement of the article. Or do you not understand my restatement noting "rumored mind you"?
Why should one have to waste time reading an article of announced pieces of Game Pass for PC (that have been noted several times on N4g already) only to find out the titl...
His brothers, best friends barber who heard from his ex-wife, who heard from her goat yoga instructor who read it on a cup that a Starbuck barista wrote on, who got the info from her 13-year-old cousin. So, you know it has to be true.
Game Pass Ultimate (rumored mind you) will include Game Pass PC as part of the package. The Game Pass PC will still have a different SKU by itself just like Game Pass Xbox base is a separate SKU from GP Ultimate. Ultimate will just give you the ultimate experience. Add streaming to Ultimate and you have a killer service (Live+GP Xbox+GP PC+Streaming+Discounts and specials) for $15 a month.
Thanks to the Insider program it is all good for me because I have Ultimate paid up...
No, they won't. They different services. Just like EA Access has different Xbox and PC subscription based gaming services. This is a different subscription; based on supporting your primary gaming device. Sure some games will appear on both catalogs (again just like they do in EA Access). But, that doesn't mean it will run on Xbox or vice vera. There are obviously Play Anywhere in both catalogs. But each catalog will be different and be a separately curated.
Technically the X with the firmware update to HDMI 2,1 can already run 8K. So, I guess that same logic applies. Maybe some independent game maker could put together a Flappy Bird game that can run at 8K. It could be a claim to fame, the worlds first 8K console game on the worlds first 8K gaming machine. Obviously the current X, next Xbox or the PS5 really won't be able to push 8K gaming of any worth.
Side note, If you want to learn about all the related HDMI 2.1 a...
Please.. It is happening. The dots and crosses have to be worked out but, it is happening. Sony has a choice go with one of the big cloud providers or do it on their own.
If they choose the top two providers that makes it either AWS or Azure. AWS has aspirations to enter game streaming as well. If they go to the next tier there is Google who obvious has Stadia. IBM, Oracle or Cloudstack, etc.. just don't have the reach or infrastructure. It ...
You mean a future like the one Sony started in 2014, PSNow?
You might want to cool your jets and when saying it's just Microsoft and Google when PSNow has existed for over 5 years now. The other day Sony reiterated their plans to invest heavily into PSNow. Yoshida (Sony CEO) even referred to console gaming as just a niche in their gaming plans.
How is it the easiest, pray do tell. And Google is scaring everyone? I think you read way too much into this all.
It is as simple as Sony needed a much better back in for their cloud services. PSNow needed this. That is a given. They had a choice of doing it all on their own. But, that is highly expensive and time consuming taking years to even get anywhere. They are currently a hodgepodge of different cloud providers depending on the regions. This move allows them to be ...
Sony and Google Cloud deal validates Google Stadia.
Sony and AWS deal validates Google Stadia.
It doesn't matter. Any move would be as a seen as validating Stadia. So sad. Poor Stadia is so insecure it needs validating already.
Edit.: If people have read my comments about PSNow previously they know I am not a big fan of the service currently. But, I do think that Sony did take an e...
Except in the case of the Predator game this all predates anything to do with Disney's involvement. Disney did not complete the Fox acquisition until March 21st 2019. This game was a deal and long into development prior to Disney having any say with the any 20th Century Fox IP.
I don't think you grasp what is going on. First PSN is not the same thing as PSNow or even located at the same place. And there is no mention of this in the new announcement of Sony integrating it into their Azure plans. Maybe they will move all their backend services to Azure but, I think this more about game streaming. Secondly, just because they are using Azure doesn't make PSNow better overall from a software services perspective. There are plenty of issues with PSNow's capa...
