Same thing with Star Jones's panel on violent videogames during her show. None of these anchors or supposed experts have even played or experienced the games they are bashing on the air. All this ignorance does is breed more ill-feelings and misunderstanding for the videogame industry.

Keighley's question of whether they had ever played the game was perfect. Once the FOX News peoples' hypocrisy was brought to light, they quickly silenced Keighley and cut away from the interv...

the first part in the cave is totally dark. Once you get out, you're in this confusing area with no map or HUD.

I got frustrated cause I didn't know where to go in most areas. After wandering around for like 10 minutes I'd figure out I need to go this way. But it certainly wasn't that much fun.

Plus, killing the dinos with the knife looked super cool but was WAY TOO EASY. What's the point of having all the guns if you can just run up the dino with the knife e...

I agree. MS is unlikely to invest in starting up internal Japanese game studios because (up to this point at least) their existing partnerships and new IPs have produced next to zero hits in the territory. It's a risky move for them to be sure.

But, I don't think MS can realistically get ahead in Japan with their existing strategy of pushing popular Western hardcore games over there and hoping for them to skyrocket in the J-charts.

If Japanese developers only...

Right...but those are 3rd parties that make games for MS (Bandai, Namco, Capcom, etc.).

Nintendo has both a Kyoto and Tokyo studio. SCEI has their JAPAN Game studio headed up by Kaz. Both of those studios make certain games specifically for the Japanese market (we never here about them here in the west cause they never come out here).

It's the same here in America where we have games that Japan will never see. I think MS would need to do something similar with...

In my opinion, Microsoft would need to create first party development studios in Japan that cater to Japanese gamers by making the types of quirky novelty games that many Japanese people like. Nintendo and Sony both have Japanese dev studios that make games specifically for that market.

MS takes the approach of selling its Western games in Japan and hoping for the best. It's not a surprise that these types of games don't sell in Japan, as they're not all that appealing to t...

I have problems with the L2 and R2 buttons on the controller. My fingers slip off when I'm holding them down for a while. It's fine for me when you have shooting mapped to R1, cause then I don't have a problem.

I want my Banjo. Feed it into my veins before you make this new game RARE.

In the Japanese store...

Go to the 3rd page on the default tap (this is equivalent to the New Game tab)

The last icon you'll see (looks like an orange folder) has the PS3 free demos in it. The pink one is for PSP.

Update: It appears like they took down the free demo for GT5 prologue, probably because the game is now out in Japan. I have it downloaded on my machine...but that was from like a month back.

GT HD Concept V 1.2?

I have the original HD Concept installed already. Is this one different?

If they join the Blu-Ray camp, then it will be a big step in ending the next-gen DVD format war SOON. Because, the #1 selling HD-DVD drive right now is the 360 add-on due to price and ease-of-use.

6632d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

an HD-DVD drive for games would effectively alienate their entire user base. Now, the majority of us with 360s would not be able to play the new games without upgrading our systems.

Plus, whereas Sony owns a major stake in Blu-Ray, Microsoft does not have the same with HD-DVD, so what do they really stand to gain? They're not going to be making any money off the movie sales. All they would be doing would be securing a format for larger more in-depth games to be developed on....

...he sounded less funny and more mad in this one. I think his reviews have been going down-hill. Probably because he has to write a new one every week and strive to be funny.

I think his humor style works best when he's making fun of stupid aspects in the game's design choices (like summoning the hell imps in The Darkness - just to move a parked car). Not when he just lobs generic complaints like "I'm a weenie and don't like shaking the controller."

It really stuck out for PS3 when they didn't even nominate Ratchet, Uncharted, or Heavenly Sword (all of which could have taken home the PS3 platform award over COD4). Also, Mass Effect wasn't nominated for 360.

How do they go about nominating games in the first place, cause my favorites weren't even on the list!

Even though MS probably has Wii envy (same with Sony), they will NEVER be the Wii of this generation. Some controller with an added tilt function or IR receiver on it is not going to make a dent in the market the Wii has already captured. It's too little Too late for MS.

Heck, the PS3 technically has motion sensing control ability via SIXAXIS and it hasn't added much to the game library.

DC could have kept going for another year or so. I think SEGA killed it off a bit too soon. Sorta like when Shenmue bombed, it was time to get out. Because that was supposed to be this beautiful opus of a game (to an extent it was), but it just didn't translate in terms of sales. So I think people at SEGA started to get freaked and saw the PS2 as a competition they couldn't beat.

First of all...putting in an HD-DVD drive for a new SKU would be a foolish move if Blu-Ray ultimately wins (it is still early, but signs are pointing to Blu-Ray internationally as being the winner...Right now I have both types). This would effectively give Microsoft the edge from the storage side, but also give them essentially a dead entertainment format similar to Sony's UMD movies.

Plus, I would imagine that by this time next Christmas, the high-def war (fueled by a higher ...

HD-DVD - no way. They've already released far too many 360 SKUS, so they'd get hardly any additional market penetration with yet another SKU, three years after the original 360 was introduced.

Gears of War is likely true.

Rare - I hope so! Hopefully Banjo will come out next year and it will be great. I'm really looking forward to it. But with the stellar galaxy just released on Wii, it will be interesting to see if a traditional collect-a-thon platformer like...

..."Star Wars" and "Alien" are classic films?

Perhaps in a sci-fi genre sense yes, but I think the true classics of film (that the author is alluding to) is more like Citizen Kane, Casablanca, etc. These are films without any graphical or A/V snobbery that continue to fascinate audiences to this day.

Why does the AFI's top movie list always contain Godfather / Citizen Kane / Casablanca? The author's premise that movies must be updated to con...

Regardless of the PS3 subject matter, I feel that the interviewer is clearly trying to slant the questions towards the negative and not employ objective phrasing. He (or She) will always follow up an answer with stuff like, "But really if you consider..." or "But I guess some people would say..."

Maybe the interviewer is just trying to play devil's advocate...but it certainly seems like they want to paint everything in the negative.

That game (arguably) launched the rhythm game genre on the home console so I would have included it in a top spot.

Also, there's Gitaroo Man, Samba de Amigo, Rez, and Many MORE.
