IGN and GamePro did the Konami Boot Camp and played the game all the way through there. Not sure if members from Eurogamer / Edge did the same at the UK events.

So the IGN and GamePro reviews could be based off of their Konami play throughs.

get what they didn't like about the game. Other than the fact that there are long cut scenes and the story can be hard to grasp.

Oh wait...these two points have been consistent (love it or hate it) throughout all the MGS games.

Plus, I doubt MGS4 will have a worse or more convoluted story than Indy 4! Lol

...it seems pretty obvious to me that publishers should not send "review builds" designed to be played, reviewed, and rated to media outlets if they have all these problems.

It's easy to forget that MS and Team Ninja sent out this code to be reviewed. Simple as that. Reviewing that version of the game was the point. Nobody presured them to send this out. It also seems evident that MS knew the build had problems (as evidenced by their statements).

So the...

when games people are excited about get poor reviews. Happened with Haze just a week ago.

No difference here. Fanboys are upset and so they cry fowl and say that the reviewers are being unfair towards Itagaki-san and his team.

Reviews are subjective opinions and everyone's entitled to theirs.

If you want to play the game...DO IT! Don't let a review stop you.

My friends and I have played many a drunk Wii boxing match!

I went to a whole bunch of stores today but they were sold-out everywhere. I'll have to wait for the next batch to come in.

I love Wii...I think it's super fun.

Go Nintendo...I am also applying there for a job so I'm biased (lol).

...gamer consoles (360 / PS3) and more casual consoles like the Wii will live side-by-side. This makes the most sense.

I do see where he's coming from. I mean my mom has tried Wii and really enjoys the shooting in Wii Play. For a lot of people a traditional game pad is just too complicated and I applaud Nintendo for trying to expand gaming for all.

based on the demo I played (haven't played the full game). Sucks isn't the right word...I just wasn't impressed. I have all three systems.

But I think the same could be said of fanboys for every system. There are so many 360 / Wii games that aren't that great that nobody acknowledges.

I wouldn't say games like Blue Dragon and Mario Kart Wii "sucked," but they didn't live up to my expectations. Why are Sony fans the only people who need to admit somethin...

I have all three systems. I honestly couldn't tell much of a difference on those pics. You really have to see the game in motion to tell.

But, I mean there are fantastic looking games on both systems so I don't really get the point of these articles...cept to say, "Lookie...the PS3 isn't kicking the 360s ass in terms of grafix so it's garbage."

I don't really get the point of that. The PS3 is a wonderful system and I'm very happy I have one.

...Geez! It's supposed to open the door and make fitness concepts and an awareness of your body weight accessible to people.

This is not meant to be better than exercise / eating right.

If you're thinking a video-game is gonna make your life 100% better than you're certainly naive.

I think it's great that Nintendo is trying these new concepts. Without stuff like this, gaming will forever stay "just for gamers" and likely not appeal to many no...

guy talk out of his ass. It must be great to just explain away anything you don't like with faulty logic.

We don't sell jack in Japan...that's because there's some cultural bias. Come on!

How about the fact that there are internal Japanese dev studios from both Nintendo and Sony that make games exclusively for the Japanese market, games that interest people over there, but nothing similar with MS. Save for a few games they invested big in like Lost Odyssey and Blu...

The article's author knows three separate families who were PS loyalists but now are gonna move to the 360.

Therefore, the only logical conclusion can be that, given this sample size of three, the PS3 will sink fast and fade into obscurity. HAHAHAHAHA! Gimme a break!

To be honest for a moment, do fanboys honestly think this would be a good result? Like supposing (it's not gonna happen), Sony dropped out of the market, abandoned all their hardware and franchises - ...

I welcome installs on the PS3. If it makes the games run smoother and faster I'm all for it! Running out of space is really a non-issue (IMHO) considering you can upgrade your PS3 HDD to hundreds of gigs.

I have the 60 gig launch system with multiple game installs (like GTA4 and GT5:P) and am in no sense running out of space. Plus, the installs don't take that long. People seem to make a huge deal about the install times. I swear the GTA4 installed in like 5 minutes.

Releasing a wii-mote style controller wouldn't be enough. They'd need a library of games to support it. Otherwise, it would basically be like the PS3 Eye, which has some games available for it but they're sorta like demos and most people don't use it.

What makes the Wii-mote work is that every Wii game uses it (for better or worse) and the system was designed around it.

My guess is that MS won't be doing one of their own seeing as how they don't appear to have any ...

I'll say, I don't know what he said in Japanese during the interview initially. None of us do. Without hearing his words, I don't know if the article's author wrote exactly what he said in Japanese or just sorta interpolated from the gist of it. Either could be true.

So yeah, what you're saying could be a possibility, but I honestly think all of this was just sorta lost in translation. I don't think he's trying to save face, listening to him in his podcast, he seems more de...

It's true that maybe some critics jumped on the 10-train and assigned perfect reviews, but I mean reviews are subjective opinions. That's what happens. It happened with Galaxy a while back. I think both GTA4 and Galaxy definitely have flaws in the game but the pros far outweigh the negatives.

I mean, the core gameplay of drive / beat people up / shoot hasn't changed since GTA3, so you sorta know what to expect with this game. Criticizing all the driving missions seems sorta po...

...I completely understand what Kojima-san is saying. It's difficult for Americans that don't understand Japanese to grasp. But, Japanese as a spoken language differs depending on the contextual situation. That is, there are specific honorific and humble phrases and ways of speaking that Japanese speakers use on the fly.

In a sense, they are always putting down themselves and honoring / putting up the people around them. So, even though you can translate Kojima's phrases dire...

I think the game definitely has some flaws but that reviewers largely jumped on the "perfect 10 train" as they did with other titles like "Super Mario Galaxy" (though there's nothing wrong with this as reviews are subjective opinions anyways).

I personally find the graphics a bit blurry and the driving controls too floaty. Though, I've gotten used to both after hours of playing. Sometimes I get frustrated with the cover system, when Niko won't latch or unlat...

The install was seriously like 5 minutes for me. This is the one thing I really don't understand criticizing. Who cares? Wasn't one of the dreams of the PS3 to be able to install / cache games to the HD and play with virtually no loading times?

If it makes the game run smoother, I seriously don't mind (and welcome) sitting through the install in both GTA4 and GT5:P.

Plus, I have a 60 gig launch unit with plenty of space after multiple installs. So saying that y...

There's simply no comparison between a regular DVD upscaled and Blu-Ray.

Believe me. I have both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD and a 1080P TV. Bourne Supremacy on HD-DVD looks LOADS BETTER on HD-DVD than on an upscaled disc (and It's super easy to compare scene-by-scene...cause that particular movie is a combo disc). Just flip it over and see for yourself!

The same holds true for Bluray.
