I mean, it says not *always* better. Which means it is in some cases, yeah. It's kind of clear in that statement there.

You said "the above isn't me being subjective they are more than valid points and very fair" - by definition, if something is "fair", there is subjectivity to it. If there was no subjectivity to video games, there wouldn't be a need for reviewers and we would have a one-size fits all way to examine it. You also said "most" reviews. Yes, most. Other people are entitled to their opinions.

@flawlessmic - If Halo Infinite was overrated, and it has a metacritic score of 87, why can't one person's opinion be that Forbidden West is overrated (it currently has a metacritic score of 89)? I get that you might LOVE this game, but someone who gave Halo a 9 would say you have rocks for brains, and that wouldn't be fair to you. That's all I'm saying.

Also: a reminder: basically none of you (myself included) have played this game. If all the reviews came out in the 6 range and this guy gave it a 9.5, would you be bashing him or saying everyone else got it wrong? Reserve judgment and have your own opinions.

That's not how reviews work. Your review can be based on whatever criteria you like. You're saying to review something based on facts? Sure, you can argue that audio and visuals are less subjective than storyline and gameplay, but even those are not to everyone's tastes.
And this author sings many of HFW's praises, but also tempers them with things he doesn't like. And all the things he mentions he doesn't like are subjective, just look at the end of the revie...

Why all the hate over someone's opinion? I haven't played the game (and most of you haven't, either), so I can't say what my opinion will be, but aren't there games that are universally loved that you just don't like for some reason? And games that you love that weren't all that well received? This is one person's opinion. Not *every* review will be the same. Not everyone will like the same things. Reviews are, by nature, subjective. If you don't value this...

@Teflon02 - yeah, unfortunately. I really enjoyed the game, but the fact that we didn't have snowy areas or much variation in the terrain at all was really unfortunate. Even the island to the north of everything that you don't even touch during the campaign could've been an excellent excuse for different weather, but nothing. At least we have a day/night cycle? But only sort of, because it triggers after story beats, not actual time progressing, from what I can tell.

@BrianSyphoned - yeah fair point - I suppose even without them, people would 100% be tinkering with them, and Valve *is* even making some parts available for it, so it does make sense.

I would like to think so, but this doesn't actually have the necessary screw bosses or internal clips to print - you're basically just printing a solid block.
The teardown video they showed also has like 34598 warnings not to actually do any teardowns or repairs :(

Agreed - super underrated, or under known let’s say

They really do try everything.

Very fair - it ended up being lacklustre for me perhaps mostly based on expectations and rumours, which is not Nintendo’s fault, but you feel how you feel, right?

The first line in the article even says "With the recent announcement of Mario Kart 9 finally not being a dream," - uhh, what? Did we all miss something?

Not terrible considering European countries are screwed with prices as well. $499 does not equal 499EUR, and yet, that's the prices they've got. Worse if you look at the UK. 449GBP = 615USD.

This art style is gorgeous. BotW mixed with point and click adventure styles. So preem.

So unbelievably stoked for this. Jet Set Radio Future was my JAMMMM and this is so welcome.

3D is not the same as VR.
There's also the issue of frame rate, as you need *minimum* 90Hz to not feel queasy, and at least 720p in each eye, while the 3DS puts out 400x240 per eye at 60Hz. But a game like Ocarina of Time chugs and you see framerate dips into the single digits in some cases; that's a recipe for someone barfing all over the place.

This was true during the N64 days when he said the quote. It is not the case anymore given that games are no longer stuck in their cartridge without the possibility of patches in the vast majority of cases.

Thank goodness for GamePass, I can try all this stuff for a gaming subscription I’d be paying for anyway, so this thing is basically free for me!

I mean, it’s an opinion, so the point is that yours can be different from theirs. Also, highly doubt you have your own opinion to base this on if you don’t have the game yet.
