The thing is, at least for PES, the last 2 games represented a pretty substantial overhaul. They added a completely new engine, a completely new physics engine, and a new game mode for PES.
I'd love to see some more competition in this arena. Unfortunately, there aren't that many devs willing to take that risk. It's a KNOWN that FIFA pretty much dominates...regardless of quality...each time they release. PES still has name recognition and a solid fanbase.

This reminds me of when Michael Jordan first released his shoes. People complained about the price. But, MJ had the idea that his shoe wasn't for EVERYBODY. It was supposed to be specifically for athletes/pros. However, it gained popularity among the pop culture crowd. SCUF was also a pro controller aimed and marketed (originally) toward the pro/MLG crowd and the hardest of the hardcore. I honestly think that the Elite was seen the same way. But, with a bit more reasonable price than SCUF...

You DO know that SCUF consulted with MS on the Elite controller, right? The Elite is basically a SCUF controller without the need to customize from SCUF...they provide customization options in the box and YOU can switch what you want.

I agree. Now, not every mode is for everybody. But, how is that different from any other multiplayer game? I think some of the hate comes from the fact that it doesn't include some of those classic modes that Battlefront is known for. However, this isn't Battlefront 3. It's EA and DICE's take on the Battlefront franchise.

THIS! EA and DICE said many times that this was a "reboot" (or their take if you will) on the Battlefield franchise. Everything, including the outrageous DLC plan, was announced ahead of time. So, if you WERE disappointed AFTER the release...you truly were deluding yourself. That being said, I can purely understand being disappointed with the way that the DLC was handled (which I think is a BIG reason why this game receives justified "hate"!). All in all, it's not as h...

I'd like to see their take on a Vietnam era game. There's so much that could be done from a story perspective. Plenty of controversy to be had...should they choose that route. But, I do find the idea of the Korean War intriguing.

Yep. That means Donald Trump, Warren Buffet, and a host or middle eastern Princes are some the greatest athletes of all time!!! LOL

Much of that dev time and cash went on a brand new engine. That us now complete. I am sure that there are plenty of assets laying around on some server that can be used or tweaked. In all actuality, it might make MORE sense to fund a second game because there would be significantly less overhead this time around. Still a risky venture. But, not as risky as the original because there wouldn't be as much invested overall.

Opinions and all. That's why gaming has OPTIONS!!! Not everybody falls in love with what YOU like...and YOU won't fall in love with what EVERYBODY ELSE likes. Games resonate with people for different reasons.
If you have never had a game that YOU liked that many others didn't, IMO, you're doing it wrong!!!

Wonderful admission! Far too many addicts have the habit (no pun) of continuing to blame their addiction on the substance/thing which they are addicted to and never fully face their issues that led directly to addiction.
Sorry to hear that you lost your marriage and family. But, maybe this was what you needed to face your issues head on? Kind of YOUR rock bottom? Either way, I hope that things are better for you now and that you can enjoy this hobby in a more responsible way. Ultimate...

While they are BOTH pretty silly, I think that at least Linsay Lohan could have a leg to stand on. Rockstar has been known to include various pop-culture references in their games. So, it could be speculated that the reference was indeed toward her tabloid infamy. (I don't believe this to be true by any standard. I think Rockstar just took the standard tabloid meme and ran with it) On the other hand, a guy with absolutely no self control makes the conscious decision to play a game for 3 w...

I actually agree with this. While it's not a popular opinion to have, it really is a bit more simplistic take on a shooter. (it also DOES have a bit of depth, but it's not forced on you) Plus, it just plain works. No random disconnections, no crazy lag, no crazy bugs...it just works. Which, in and of itself, shouldn't be an amazing thing...but in this day it is STILL a welcome surprise.

I think you are correct. From what I can recall, the profit margins for PS4 and Xbox One were initially about $20-$30 per console. Now that that they are both selling at $100+ cheaper, I can't see where they can be making any profit. The chipsets and production lines haven't been trimmed significantly enough to reduce costs by that much at this point. But, at the same time, these consoles sold so much faster than last gen that they were probably more willing to take risks. (though the...

Plus, it's not like those with other interests don't label themselves as well. Hobbyists of all types have labels. It's not a unique thing to gamers. When listing hobbies, people don't often say "I run, I paint, I write, etc.". They say, "I'm a runner, a painter, a writer of...whatever." How is the term gamer any different?
As long as it's not used in a pretentious fashion, to exclude certain people from the hobby, I don't see a problem ...

Oh...I remember those too. It's just that I remember when graphics were no more than simple boxes layered to give the illusion of aircraft, tanks, and people. So, when I said Atari level I was really meaning the beginning of anything closely relating to graphics.

What a trip down memory lane. I can recall the first "console" I got was a Radio Shack branded Pong. Then I got an Intellivision. I remember Zork and The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy as some of my first text adventures. I played those on my Commodore. (so many, many, many games for that one!!!) All that said, I don't miss having to hole-punch floppy discs or wait for 20 minutes for a tape to load a game...only for it NOT to work! I don't miss imagining that 2D, sprite...

I would completely disagree that Battlefront is an "unfinished" game. Sure, it's light on content and lacking a single player campaign. But, IMO, that's not unfinished because that they didn't plan on having a campaign. What they have, like it or not, is highly polished and works extremely well. (though I've heard some issues on PC with connections) It just sucks that they didn't have/make time to add more content to the initial game AND that they decided to prov...

I have that same problem in open world games. I get lost in the world and pretty much forget what I was doing...that is...until I see that subtle reminder on the map!!! Then, I get back into the story. Maybe I like the option to have story when I want it, but not so intrusive that it's a MUST at every turn.

@DarkOcelet..."that game was drowning in negativity...." That's very true. It was getting judged (fairly or not) pretty harshly AND pretty early on. Yet, people STILL had HIGH expectations for the game that, IMO, didn't really align with the actual purpose of the game. People THOUGHT it would be more open to exploration...less linear...more set pieces...LONGER...etc. As I said, I enjoyed it for what it was. But, reviewers seemed to judge it for what it wasn't or what the...
