Everybody has made perfectly honest and truthful statements about the Sports genre. However, it still doesn't explain why gamers in general seem to look down upon it. They will stomach the endless barrage of annual COD games, yet complain about the "roster" update of a sports game. In all honesty, it's pretty hypocritical. Sports games, just like any other, fulfill the role of the fantasy of taking your favorite team (no matter how bad they might be) to a championship. Creat...

Mine died as well. But, it was after 4 years of heavy gaming. Most of the reports that I heard about the Xbox were in the first 2 years of it's existence. There is the difference. Sure, I don't want my electronics to break. But, 2 years or less is ridiculous. Statistically, the rate might be approaching that of the 360 (don't know because I don't really search for those numbers). But, I can say that a failure rate with respect to the time owned wouldn't even be close.

What I find funny is all of the crap that Sony took with PS3 and PSP for doing just that. Trying to be an entertainment hub. MS and Nintendo delighted in taking jabs at them for not focusing strictly on games. My how the times have changed.

Actually, it has worked thus far. MS has managed to assert itself as THE console to have. Mind-share is powerful marketing. When the average person thinks of playing games (not hardcore gamers, but suburban soccer mom) they now utter Xbox as the console of choice. This is HUGE marketing dollars and pop culture penetration at it's best. You don't really need games if your "target" audience doesn't truly care about games. This is NOT to say that it will work again. They wi...

Excellent assessment of the MS strategy. The Xbox is now the go to name for casuals and outsiders when they refer to a gaming system. How many times have we seen a console get so much press in regular, everyday news? They have done a great job, business-wise, of placing themselves in the competitive position to lead the next generation. However, the caveat to this is that now THEY will be in the position to actually lead. They now have the mind-share and that comes with a huge responsibility....

I completely agree. Sony needs to remain aggressive in dealing with the Vita. However, they don't need to dethrone Nintendo. All that they really need to do is keep increasing their share in the market like Microsoft has done. There are plenty of gaming dollars to go around between these two handhelds. Competition is good for these gaming businesses, but great for us consumers.

I agree that playing a game for days, weeks, or months at a time leads to gaming fatigue for specific titles. However, the challenge of the developer is to overcome that obstacle with providing innovative and fresh gameplay ideas that should provide longevity for the game. That is the issue with COD. The "sameness" of the series (especially in the MP aspect) has caused a burnout of sorts. Partly due to the annual releases and partly due to the repetition. COD sells, in part, because...

This comment makes the most sense. Sure, HHG was not the most "professional" when it came to speech, presentation, or even writing. However, look at the tons of OTHER crap that gets posted here and then tell me that he was somehow worse. At his worse, he just over-hyped the simplest of articles...umm...evening news anybody. At his best, he would actually get industry big-wigs to relax and sometimes give up information. He is not the best, but he at least deserves the chance to post ...

Yeah...um...bro...racism won't go away BECAUSE we don't try to change people. We don't talk about it. We don't branch out of our comfort zones and meet and befriend others from different cultures, religions, sexual preferences, socioeconomic backgrounds, etc. We just say stop whining...because it's the easy way out. I don't mind if you hate Jaffe...but don't be so quick to espouse the idea of racism not changing because it came from him. I admire him for saying wha...

@Legion...
I don't really understand how he fell into any trappings because he didn't use the word Killa instead of Killer. As for N.W.A. being the that is obviously a highly biased opinion. They were a young, black group from the Compton area in an era where young black men (especially) were extremely marginalized. There have been MANY studies on the corrupt L.A. police force that would round up young Black and Latino males and subject them to all sorts of illegal search proc...

Actually, I think that more PS3 owners will be likely to purchase this device. It has the franchises that they have become familiar with for on the go play. It has the cross-play features that seem pretty exciting. It is a serious piece of hardware for the price. The sales of the PSP weren't driven by just the "handheld" crowd. IMO, they were driven by the excitement of being able to play Sony branded games anywhere they wanted.

@Brish...even when that happens, it's at a loss to the retailers most of the times. Unless the publisher is feeling particularly kind.

Well, the game is at local retailers just awaiting a street date...so it is very possible that he does have a copy. Plus, publishers usually send out "review" copies to the labelled "media" in a timely manner for review (1-2 weeks out). It doesn't take much to get "media" credentials these days (see E3 for that). So, it's entirely possible that he reviewed the game.
I have issues with these "freelance" bloggers sometimes as well. (Espec...

For MOVE...nope. Otherwise, it's an expansion of Cole's move set from Infamous 2. New abilities include the ability to fly (tied to a meter that is filled by blood), the ability to bite (fills the flight meter), new vampire vision modes (allow you to track and stalk the Firstborns that are hidden as characters), the ability to stake (to rid the world of the vamps after you defeat them), and enhanced vampire vision (to see hidden rooms and areas that hold secrets).

No report on game length, but he did a great job of NOT spoiling the actual plot points. Most of the stuff that he did was highlight the new abilities that Cole has in the game and how they are used to locate and dispatch enemies. Pretty safe to watch IMO.

I don't really know that the brand name of Sony was the thing that weakened them in the US. If anything, it was the lead that MS had...combined with the surprise that was the Wii. In the end, though, I DO agree that Nintendo is a bit behind with their HD strategy (though they will be fine because they have IP's that sell consoles on name alone). MS will continue to thrive as long as they don't get cocky AND they start to diversify their catalog from within. Sony will remain a majo...

I can't wait for this either. What is most interesting to me is that you don't need the original disc to play this DLC. That is pretty cool. Plus, it's cheap!!! Those that didn't want to jump in and pay the $60 can jump in for relatively cheap price and experience the same core game mechanics...just dressed up in a Halloween-ish theme.

True. I think the first one tried too hard to be GTA. The second one, on the other hand, tried to carve out it's own identity (absolutely crazy!!!) while taking what most gamers eventually ended up spending loads of time doing in GTA and making that the focus of the game. I seriously can't wait for this game!

Guess you haven't had the 6 inch Chipotle and Tapeworm special!?!? What about the $5 footlong with lukewarm chicken and e.coli!?!?

Not just N4G, but the world over. I think that devs have had a bad habit of releasing BETA's that were meant as DEMO's. That has lead to many people judging BETA's as the definitive code. I trust DICE because they continued to support their games and improve them (for the most part) for a long time after release. Plus, it's just so damn fun to play!!!
