Bit of an over-reaction. It's almost certainly a small issue affecting a few consoles. The fact I couldn't find a single thread on MS support about this issue has convinced me it's not massively widespread.
Just wait and see, I severely doubt we'll see anything worse than the fail rate Sony has been experiencing.

I'll be getting a PS4 eventually, but not out of sulk because I was one of the unlucky few to be hit with a duff unit.
Author here: It sucks and I hope it isn't a huge issue. Lets not blow things out of proportion. I'm currently playing Battlefield 4 on the Xbox One I picked up for my friend and it's working just fine.
I'll update with the response I get from the retailer and Microsoft when I get replies from them, it's past 3am here so it won't be until the morning now.
Getting my Xbox One in a few hours, but this is amazing news and will certainly speed up my purchase of a PS4.

Both Xbox One and PS4 have some good games and some bad games.
Xbox has Forza, Dead Rising and Killer Instinct.
PS4 has Killzone, Resogun and Flower.
It's all about the multiplatforms at the moment though, wait a year and then compare game line-ups.
Lol the one thing on this site with less respect than the Xbox One is Jonathan Blow.
Deal was slightly different here in the UK. Day One xbox gold 12 months was £30 instead of £40 and it comes with £5 credit for xbox account. Still a good deal.
GiantEnemyCrab: Getting ultra mainly for the original KI arcade game rather than the costumes, they are just a nice bonus.
Will probably pick up the Ultra edition if the trial impresses me. I have Shadow Jago on the way either way.

I'm guessing it's on hold until ID@Xbox starts kicking out some games for them to give away. Neither Sony or MS will want to be giving out triple AAA games from their launch year very often. maybe a couple but it'll be mainly indies from both sides for the first year.
not a bad thing of course, just saying that's why it will be delayed until later in 2014.

This. This is the main reason I'll be picking up a PS4 down the line...unless MS apologise to Oddworld ad it comes to Xbox One. Sadly i can't see that happening.

Couldn't agree more, it is certainly the underdog at the moment. I see that as a good thing, Microsoft will have to keep pushing to stay in the game.
