You actually are doing better than me with 4 times a year lol. I signed up for the UI beta and turned it on when that became available, because I had always hated the One's UI. After that, I truly can't remember. Which...is kinda sad lol.

Side ramble: But I had a PC before I got the OG XBO, & back then Phil was peddling the "exclusives are important for us", "fans say exclusives are the main reason they buy hardware" and all that nonsense...
While I generally agree (haven't subbed to Plus in years), this is not about Sony. This is about the XB offerings this month. GP games being disappointing this month doesn't preclude the same being true of Plus; just means you aim your displeasure for either on their respective articles.
But in November, Plus has Shadow of War and Hollow Knight for the PS4/5, and Bugsnax - indie, but a launch title nonetheless - is included for PS5. That seems like a pretty good set...
I watched a video with RTX on vs off, and you could - no framerate counter - just easily see the framerate tank sometimes when it was on. Which seems bizarre, only from the standpoint that it also includes DLSS. You'd think with DLSS, even with RTX on that these new cards - which are so much more powerful than what was out when they were designing it - would basically be able to grunt their way through to good performance.
Just further enforces my decision to never buy ...
I'm a PlayStation fan, and I want backwards compatibility. I mean, it was in the PS2 and PS3, the Vita played digital PS1 and PSP games. If no one wanted it, Sony would never have included it. I'm not saying it is a make or break feature, as games specifically for the system I'm buying are going to come first of course, but it would certainly be nice.
I've still got my old consoles either hooked up or close by, and all my old games are on a rack in my closet...
It's a funny question, isn't it? Because Metacritic - aside from some slightly questionable choices in who they count, scores they give unscored reviews, or how they weight scores from different publications - is still a mostly acceptable numeric representation of general consensus. Any argument against it is your opinion vs public opinion, and opinion vs opinion can't be proven to be factually anything one way or the other lol.
I mean, I went against my gut ins...
Sadly, they matter for sales. They may not line up with what we believe - general consensus only goes so far vs personal preference - but a lot of people see 90+ and put it into a must buy category. 85-89 is also a strong buying territory. People seem to start lumping in sub 85 score games into a lower buying bracket and will wait for sales. At least that's what I'm given to understand from some who have measured market trends and sales data.
It's why games like...
It's not even the potentially nefarious things that make streaming the most off-putting to me; it just adds yet another variable that could strip you of access or ownership.
We already had issues where if a dev or publisher went down (more the latter) that a digital game could end up being pulled from sale or even your purchased download. Platform holders can opt to do the same thing as well. These are rare, but they do happen.
Now, what if Ubitus (th...
I'm hopeful the tone & storytelling is similar. XII is my favorite, and part of that was how the story was actually pretty straightforward...for a FF game. No melodramatics for random side characters, no learning 100 new glossary terms to understand before the word soup makes sense (aka Kingdom Hearts Syndrome), clear motivations...I liked that the characters were in service to the overarching story, not the other way around.
I would love for them to go back in that...
Days Gone 2 - Another 2 Days Gone
Well, I installed it and I can at least tell you that loads are the same - no Last of Us Remastered sorcery going on here. I'm on a base PS4 and, through my short stint, it feels exactly the same. I'll be curious if there'll be any indication of what was in this absurdly large patch.
Nintendo has actually done this in Japan - RE7 & Phantasy Star Online 2 both had cloud versions available, though they never made their way westward. I'm ultimately surprised that it is using Ubitus, though. Ubisoft just rebranded Uplay+ to Ubisoft+ and that included a strengthening of the partnerships with GooIgle Stadia and Amazon Luna. You'd think this Ubi game would use one of those streaming solutions.
I guess if you don't own any other platform, being...
@OCEAN - I'm curious if you meant to reply to someone else?. I didn't mention, or even intimate, that game development stopped when a game shipped.
What I was suggesting was if the day 1 patch had to be ready by Nov 19th previously, that's the date everyone was trying to ensure all their projects were done by - at least the projects they were planning on having in the day 1 patch. So it is clear, in this instance, they were falling behind. So if management didn&...
Logistically speaking, I'm not even sure how that works. The devs working on the game know how much time is left. They know how much is left to do. So if leadership doesn't announce the delay to the devs, then were the devs laboring under the impression they still had to get everything done by the old launch day? I don't know how you plan to get things done without everyone knowing the timing and deadline for projects.
Just to keep in mind on horizontal vs vertical on the XSX. The XSX has the base on it for vertical orientation that you can't take off, so it'll just be hanging off the side if you lay it horizontal. If you have it vertical, there are apparently rubber feet on the right side for when it is laid horizontally. So it seems either way you have it, some part of a stand for the alternate orientation will be visible, which I find a puzzling decision from MS. But I don't see the feet quit...
I don't either. I think it is mainly just another piece of content to consume while you're hyped for it, but there isn't much to be gained. Sometimes you can get a better sense of a product when in a persons hands, and the occasional good unboxer can give some useful insights you might not get from a product sheet.
But the IGN unboxer sounds like they are crap at their job, so makes it that much less useful and interesting.
I agree for the most part about the Vita pricing overall not being that bad. I mean, I got my 32GB card back in 2013 for about $84, and that has served me pretty well. But I would like to consider getting like a 128GB microSD for storing my games on.
So, same question. Was putting the CFW on pretty easy? I'll obviously look it up, but since I have the ear of someone who has done it, just curious as to your personal experience.
Yeah, and such a short delay so close to release is rare, which I can only think will mean we're going to people getting their hands on it early. It'll be missing the Day 1 patch, but this game has already gone gold & you can't stop that train.
Logistics for manufacturing and shipping is too large a ship to turn at the last second, so there are going to be packaged games being shipped to retail locations that will just be held in storage until the new releas...
Definitely not an option. 1st, they mention this is going into the "Day 0 patch", which is already what they were working on when aiming for the November release. But secondly, going "gold" refers to "gold master", which is the code deemed good enough to be pressed onto a master disc from which all other copies will be based upon.
So whatever the code base was back when they said the game went gold is what is on the disc, without question. Th...
I take umbrage with the "PlayStation Store still regularly offering sales and discounts for PlayStation Vita titles" comment. I regularly look, and I literally NEVER see any sales on Vita games.
Looking now on the Vita, no sales - certainly not any "Big in Japan" sale - and I literally cannot remember the last time I saw a sale there. The "weekly deals" section is all full priced games, and has been every time I've check in the last...year...
Not sure why you're getting downvoted. The RTX 3070 was butting up against its 8GB limit when gaming at 4k/Ultra in Doom Eternal (according to Digital Foundry). I can only imagine the frame buffer being more and more of a concern as time goes on.
If you tend to buy and replace your graphics card every 1-2 years, it's probably not a big deal. If you're willing to game at 1440p, pretty much not a problem. But I'm a little surprised they didn't fit the 307...
