Yeah, it's sad that is used for ammo in this silly "war". The information they provide is simply information. Mostly it is interesting to see how implementations differ, what tradeoffs might have been made, ensuring that devs/pubs are kept honest in terms of the quality of their product, or finding issues they may have overlooked.

But instead we have people taking a product that, if played in a vacuum, would look great. And, in most cases, if played side-by-si...

I guess Keen brought this on themselves. They are the ones who posted it, and they should know by now that no one on here reads the articles, and this title is pure clickbate. It's about 3rd party minor content exclusivity, like in Avengers where Spider Man was only on PS4.

It's not about exclusives from 1st party developers. It even touches on why the MS Bethesda acquisition is different than IPs that are inextricably linked from specific platforms. It's actua...

That opening joke makes no sense to me. Soup? Maybe it's just that "random for the sake of random" humor that I just don't seem to get.

I don't think they need to do a next-gen upgrade, but it would be nice if they could push a quick update to allow 4k60 through backwards compatibility. I'd imagine that wouldn't take a lot of manpower, and really is the more important feature for an action game anyway.

I think it lies somewhere in the middle, as many things do, between you and ABizzel.

Richard has said "The 1440p target MS was talking about seems optimistic based on what we're seeing so far" in the Dirt 5 video - though he also says "And I'm fine with that [...] If 1080p is the target, so be it, I just think the marketing from MS needs to be a bit clearer about that".

Then again, we're now seeing sub 1080p in some circums...

They mention there's the ability to unlock the single player from within RDO standalone. I'm curious as to what the cost is there, and googling for it has yielded no answers.

Was curious if the unlock cost is $40 - if the MSRP for RDO standalone is $20, then unlocking single player should be $40? $5 for online is a good price, but if I want to play the single player at some point it'd be nice to know that was going towards the "full" experience.

In this case, I think you're letting the clickbait headline kind of over-color the tone of this article. It's clearly not a "painful" predicament - it's a "less-than-ideal-comfort & missing out on minor features" predicament. I mean, if I went from one controller not giving me any problems to another one that suddenly did, I'd certainly question it at least. They even mention they keep playing with it, and concede they are "an idiot" for doing...

THEY JUST STARTED! That's like asking who won the game after the 1st out in the 1st inning of a baseball game. This reeks of cashing in on the easy clicks generated by "console wars" & the excitement of new consoles.

I'm weary of "console wars" as a thing in any scenario, but the consoles aren't even a month old! Both consoles are using silicon from the same supplier, and AMD is trying to juggle the production of both with its own CPU/GPU...

Yeah, that's weird. I normally see Anthem on sale on Origin for less than $10. And I bought a "physical" copy for PC for like $6 at Best Buy a year ago. $27 is borderline criminal for what it is right now & the uncertainty of its future.
----------------------------- ------
Aside:
I had enough fun puttering around in Anthem at $6, and it was a mini gamble/investment for the future of the title since it was around then the chatter started about the ...

Have you considered the Split Pad Pro? Since you also use it mainly in handheld, like myself, I would suggest checking those out - they are definitely a sizable improvement over the standard joycons from a comfort and usability standpoint. Even have a couple assignable buttons on the back.

I agree about the uncomfortableness (boy that's an ugly looking word lol) after holding for a while. I got the Split Pad Pro on a sale for like $35, and that makes holding it far more palatable. And the joysticks on that are actually much better as well - both from a usability standpoint and a "I'm not afraid of JoyCon drift" standpoint lol.

I think the standard JoyCons actually are kinda crappy - having to cater to both styles really made them a master of...

Guess that means Ubi forgot to send them the 2nd check - Watch Dogs: Legion only got a 5 lol

Thanks for replying.

I can see by your "lols" that you don't think I got far enough into the game to give it a fair shake. I went back and checked my save file, and I had put 17 hours into it - so not quite as much as I originally thought. But if it takes until the 3rd or later dungeon to get better, that seems a poor design. And if that's what people mean by a slow start, then that is a crazy slow start lol.

I mean, if I hadn't unlo...

I might have to look into how much it truly changed the game. After the game's normal slow intro (which didn't seem as bad to me as it does to others), I thought it was pretty good for a while. Thought the gameplay held up & the Kamoshida storyline was compelling.

But the quests got weirder and less compelling, and the combat & dungeons started to wear on me by then as well. I felt the story's momentum was slowing down every quest after the Kamoshida que...

Given the 400 versions of Skyrim out there, I'm guessing they'll release Skyrim: Dovahkiin Double-Dip Deluxe Edition for next gen systems. They'll add some more bells and whistles, sure, but giving a free 60fps patch would just remove one more bullet point on the box for the next gen version.

Have a question for you. Have you tried Beat Saber/Oculus Link on it?

I own PSVR and an original Rift. I had actually picked up a 1st gen Quest to try out Oculus Link to see how well it worked - if it worked well enough, I'd have sold my OG Rift and kept the Quest for standalone with the option of tethered to PC. I found it worked really well for almost everything...except Beat Saber. I play on Expert+ and I found the tracking just couldn't keep up through Oculus Li...

Interesting that you found 4 sucked the life out of the franchise, when it is widely considered to be the best of the series. Different strokes and all, but I would say 4 - while perhaps taking the series into a different direction - gave the franchise plenty of breathing room to grow, given its extreme popularity. It feels to me like 5/6 and random offshoots are what really sucked the life out of RE for a good long while there.

What's interesting to me is that they seemed to have always had some faith in this game. Released on DS forever ago, then given a mobile treatment on both Android and iOS, and then the Remix on Switch. I guess they saw enough interest over those versions to greenlight a sequel for a modest amount of money. Sadly, I think unless you see a company give those kind of indications of their interest in an older series, the odds are much slimmer for a new entry.

Well, considering TT was bankrupted and closed 2 years ago, not quite enough people love that garbage anymore :-p

With only 2GBs available, wouldn't it end up filling up the VRAM way too quickly and then be forced to pull textures from the much slower system RAM (and god forbid, potentially the hard drive)? I'd imagine that would create some performance issues, and forcing HQ textures would be a bad idea.

I'm actually a bit surprised games like this can run on cards with such limited VRAM in the first place.
