Given it was listed on the Japanese Nintendo site, it makes me think this might be another one of their "cloud" releases. I cannot imagine this game running well natively on Switch, but I'd be interested to see how that would look if they do lol.

At least you can use some of the fancy RT and DLSS tech. I'm still stuck on my GTX 1080, so you've got me beat at least!

Rambly bit!

And when I upgrade, I'm still not gonna have "cutting edge" money. The GTX 1080 put me close back in the day, but I'll likely be getting an RTX 3060Ti once those finally become available. Been in the queue on EVGA's site since 12/1 for it - still no notify sent :-(. Sooner I can get one,...

I know this is a bit of a side ramble, but I'm really interested to know what's going on with Ubisoft's insanely fast price cuts recently.

Is it just that they released so many games so close to each other? The fact that I've seen official sale prices for I:FR, AC:V, and WD:L for $30 within a month of release feels unprecedented. I'm used to seeing that price more like 6 months down the line. It's obviously great for someone like me who always waits ...

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Folders!

And for their focus to be more on "big" experiences like BotW or Mario Odyssey. Released right at the start, these are their largest, most ambitious & interesting games on the system. To me, all other Nintendo games have felt small and, in some instances, outdated in comparison.

And finally show off those games you teased with title cards over 3 years ago. It's getting a little ridiculous.

I appreciate that there are even a few games on here that managed to slip my notice - a rarity, with how much time I spend reading about games lol. RITE looks fun and the price is right, I just really wish it was on the Switch. Those are the kinds of games I think fit that platform perfectly.

And to the Origami King being quickly forgotten, I think it would have behooved them to release a demo for that game. The combat didn't feel like it showed well in videos, and I t...

Lol - I know you meant "gems", but I couldn't help but remember this super random 80s cartoon.

For some reason, I just couldn't get into it. Everything felt too slow - the pace of the motorboat, of the walking, of the "running" - it felt weirdly sluggish. And I don't mind constant narration, but this dialog was really clunky and ham-fisted. Plenty of saying things outright that would make no sense for someone to say to themselves.

I got some weird performance hitches on my PC, even after bumping some settings and resolution down. And even on my VRR...

@RazzerRedux

DLSS is great, but predex84 mentioned "native 4k". DLSS is not native, as upsampling from a lower resolution is the sauce that gives that performance bump. I believe that the highest quality resolution that DLSS uses for 4k is 1440p native/internal, with its lowest "ultra performance" setting for 4k upscaling from 720p.

To be clear, I think DLSS is a great option & some of the results are truly impressive. But it isn&#...

@DaveZero

I don't think there's anything wrong with the XSS in theory, but its execution to this point leaves something to be desired. MS was painting this as a 1440p60 machine, and it has shown that it is mostly unable to do that. Cross-gen games like AC:Val & Destiny 2 here try for 1080p at the top end and, in the case of AC:V, can dip into 720p. This is true even of MS's in-house Forza Horizon 4. In the titles it hits 1440p in, they tend to be 30fps. The...

I wouldn't hold my breath for this being any kind of content like they were asking for in the beginning. Sounds like it'll just be GTA:O stuff, but with the ability to have your own private lobby kind of situation. Which I suppose is nice, but you still have to wonder why make something intended to be played alone playable only in the online portion of your game?

If someone used that for PSP2, it's because they were lazy lol. These images were cropping up as NX leaks back in 2016:

Huh:

- Switch powered by AT would support video capture, with the ability to add video/audio “commentary”; you could then upload it to “Nintendo World”
– Datasheet outlines functionality for video and voice “conferencing” while playing a game

If this leak is true, it'd be a little weird they had these ideas at least as far back as 2014 and didn't follow through on them in any way, shape, or form. We got 30 second video clips with zero com...

Part 2:

I do believe that it is healthy to consider all parts of any topic for it to be balanced and understood as holistically as possible. So I think it is important for discussion to be happening about what kind of game is there under the problems so as to ensure the game isn't entirely written off. But I don't think it is wrong to focus on the more pressing issues of the state of the game when CDPR did all they could to mislead those buying on base cons...

I also appreciate when civil discourse can be had - a rarity in general online discourse, but feels doubly so on this site. Especially when comments get long winded, as many of mine often do lol. I appreciate when people take the time to read and are interested in having a calm, open dialog. So cheers for that!

I agree that consumerist concerns are not the sole important factors when asses...

These phrases ring some alarm bells:
- "consumerist pet causes"
- "why this approach is misguided… at least for people who care about video games"

Wanting something to actually function is not a "pet cause". I guess if the world's best tasting pizza came with shards of glass in it, these guys would simply focus on how good it tastes and shrug off the internal bleeding because that's what's best if you truly love pi...

I completely understand that their focus and messaging around this game at the time they did it was a complete trainwreck that showed how out of touch they were. That said, I think this game for mobile could be decent - it doesn't impact Diablo 4 being made, so I'm not sure why so many people appear to be against it as it exists now (I guess meme culture & a general dismissal of mobile gaming). It seems like Blizzard is playing a larger part in development now, whereas before it s...

The fact it seems more ambitious kind of scares me - this game always ran horribly, and the first game was pretty straightforward with visuals that we could say, charitably, weren't pushing the envelope lol. Consoles could have framerates in the low 20s, included lots of hitching & frame tearing, and all that with resolutions that dipped as low as 640p. The new consoles are far more powerful, granted, but it ran terribly on high-end PCs as well.

Perhaps MS will be a...

Yeah, that game ran like crap even on high-end systems, and - to be frank - looked downright ugly. It was completely confounding to see such an ugly thing being rendered on screen while performance tanked lol.

It sounds interesting, but I have to question calling this season pass "worth its weight in gold" this early.

We only know what 1/4 of the content actually is. We've seen plenty of season passes not hold up in value to what we expected to get, so not knowing even a hint of what is coming for the last 3/4 of this pass makes it rather puzzling to assign a value to the whole thing, much less one quite as glowing as has been given. And it seems like you'll sav...
