I also thought the demo wasn't very good, but the full game could be.
I hated the beta for MAG, but got the game anyhow and loved it.
Some demo's don't give games justice. Most do, but there are some that don't, and this seems like one that doesn't.
I was wondering why I haven't got the SOCOM Beta code. Must not be doing the beta here, (UK).
I agree with most comments, these do look great.
The last YLOD happened when I unplugged the USB from my Logitech GT wheel. As soon as I unplugged it, I'm talking milliseconds after unplugging, It YLOD, And disc got stuck (NFS:SHIFT).
Now everytime I unplug my wheel I always turn off the PS3.
Don't know if thats the reason I got YLOD, it maybe a coincidense.
Gran Turismo 5 does have a few 24 hour races, and at the moment you can't save, only pause the game. This means you have to keep your PS3 turned on.
I agree with you that normal sane people would not play for 24 hours straight (I wouldn't). GT5 needs a save for those races and hopefully Polyphony will patch this game.
I do everything in the article and more. Still, i am on my fourth 60gig fat PS3. I had blu-ray failure with first got a refurb. Second and third got YLOD, got two more refurbs. Now this one, my fourth is still going strong.
I just think I've been unlucky, as I do look after them very well. It's a good job Sony have been nice to me and gave me my last two refurbs for free, (even though they were out of warranty). My first refurb did cost £145 though.
I don't think the graphics are that bad really. They're not the best, but I've seen a lot worse this gen.
From what I've seen so far, this game looks very similar (graphics wise) to MAG and the video's of the new SOCOM.
I wouldn't say its a graphical disaster at all.
The first thing I do when I open a new game is have a smell at the booklet. It just smells nice. Don't smell the disc though.
I'm the same (Forbidden_Darkness), got lots of games to play and finish in my collection. There are more games coming that I want also.
O.T. I really enjoyed Batman AA, got it on release. Hope the new one is as good if not better.
The faster you go, the more blurred the screen becomes. In the first SHIFT I think you can turn the blurring off (long time sinse I last played). Its there to give a bigger sense of speed.
I would have got Mass Effect 2 for PS3 today if Killzone 3 hadn't been released. Will have to wait while next week now. Its only £24 at Tesco where I live and that seems like a bargain to me.
I have seen that Red Orchestra2 video before and it looks fantastic. They have put a lot of work into that game to make it as realistic as possible.

It does look good. The driving with Logitech GT wheel/pedals wasn't very realistic in the first SHIFT, and going by this video it looks like they have kept it the same. The way the cars react while cornering fast doesn't seem right.
Just watched the night time video and it looks great. They have made the game a lot better looking than the first SHIFT, I'm impressed.
Yep, the UK numbers aren't really relevant as Killzone3 is only just released today (Friday).
The only problem with having to hold a gun while gaming is that your arms get tired quickly. Its alright if you can lean on the back of a chair, while stood behind it or something with your arms while playing, but if you don't your arms do get very tired quickly.
Thats the only problem I have had with gun games, Time Crisis etc, using a lightgun.
I was the same when I had my Commodore 64. The only news about it I got was from Magazines. I remember typing in hours of data from a mag to play a game and when it ran it crashed. You didn't know if the game you bought was good or bad as there were no reviews. Most of my games were only £1.99 (M.A.D., Mastertronic added dimension), and the most costly games were £10. This is the first Fight Night game which I'm really thinking about buying. Played the demo and watched a few video's and I want to play the full game.
Got to find more money now, with this, Homefront, Crysis2, SHIFT2, Motorstorm Apocalypse and others I can't think of at the moment. Some games are going to have to wait.
