"Right first of iamtehpwn, I understand, after seeing all your posts on these articles I get it....you love FF13, but you have to accept the fact that most of us didn't."

What? Are you serious?
Did you not read the first comment I posted in this read? I thought it was an Okay-ish game. It's a 7/10 at best. I do however, like XIII-2, but only because it fixed most of my personal grips with the game.

It has only a little to do with XII...

Honestly, with the rate of fanboys wanting every FF to be like the one they want in particular, there's no way Square can never make an FF at this point that isn't for a particular audience. Really, no matter what they make, it'll liked by some people and hated by others.

It is sort of like critique people make that XIII doesn't use a traditional turnbased/ATB system like previous final fantasy's but claim Versus XIII goes back to the series roots. Not tha...

I thought XIII was just "Okay".
But Final Fantasy XIII-2 is quite addicting. I literally just enjoying roaming around and doing side quests and find new secrets, going back to certain areas and finding new things.

If you absolutely hated everything about XIII it won't do much...but if you thought XIII was at the very least a decent game, you'll probably love XIII-2

Agreed with MetalProxy, I'm around 12 hours in, and I've been having fun since the start. Even though a lot of the reviews have been 7's or 8's this game personally feels like a 9 to me.

If you hated XIII's combat system, it won't change much for you; but for me personally, I thought XIII's combat system was pretty decent if you went to the settings and turned off Autobattle, and default it to Abilities instead.

With that said, I'm enjoying XIII-2 infinitely more than XIII. I'm having fun exploring. Right now, I'm simply going through, finding different artefacts, catching new monsters and collecting new items.

I just ho...

The biggest difference between 2 is that XIII-2 actually contains something called "fun". hahaha, jokes aside, it's a much better game because it the world is bigger and fun to explore, very nonlinear, there's also more gameplay variety, things to do, places to see, exploration, and other things.

I don't think we should be comparing the intro though. Maybe somewhere like New Bodhum, or Archtyle Steppe. The Intro has destruction and a lot of it has to be low poly because of the massive scale of Valhalla, and there's also a lot of destruction happening on Valhalla.

I think Final Fantasy should come at the pace it's always came out at, which would be about every 2 years. Perhaps it's Nostalgia because it was back in the "good old days" of Final Fantasy, a new one would come out around every 2 years.

after all, 7 in 1997, 8 in 1999, 9 in 2000, 10 in 2001....only 12, 13 and Versus XIII have had a monster ungodly development time.

I'd rather a new final fantasy come out every 2 years for the most part ...

Are you serious? I thought paradigm shifts were implied, but I never used any sort of advanced strategy to win until the post game challenge monsters. I played XIII for 89 hours, and I even bought XIII-2 Collector's edition and I just played that for 9 hours last night. Loving it a lot more than XIII as there's more to do outside of battle.

Okay then, with that logic..If my Honda breaks down, I'm blaming Chevy.

The game is actually way less linear than I Was expecting, and it is open within the very first few hours. There's a lot more freedom than I was expecting.

I wouldn't go thaaaaat far, but XIII-2 is a good game in it's own right. Even if you can't get behind it's story or character, the nonlinear gameplay and open structure of the game is pretty addictive thus far, I'm about 9 hours in.

And is it me, or does anyone else find Toriyama's obsession with females to be particularly odd? From his idea of an all female party in X-2, and the female focus on XIII, and he even wrote of the some of the perverted scenes in FF7, I really sort of question...what were they thinking?

Really, his position caused by Hironobuo Sakaguchi leaving. After that, Everyone sort of went up a rank, Kitase now having Sakaguchi's old job and Toriyama now as Director. The guy has ...

XIII-2's music is a mixture of some incredible songs with some really, really bad ones. You here some songs like Caius's theme, The Missing Link, Knight of The Goddess, Warrior Goddess, and you think "Wow...This soundtrack is amazing"...and then you hear ..Crazy chocobo and some other weird deathmetal songs and you're pretty turned off.

Good read.
I had mixed feelings about XIII. On one side, XIII had an incredible concept, Rich world, tons of lore, a fast paced battle system, and a cool protagonist like Lightning. The premise was excellent.

It's just the way it was all executed was terribly wrong in almost every conceivable way. There was no variety to the game at all. Really, I felt like I was walk down a hall way and mashing X the whole time without really thinking about what I was doing. This...

The XIII/XIII-2 team is now unoccupied, meaning they have the choices between Final Fantasy XV and FF7 remake. It'll be interesting to see which one they choose.

While I'd love to see this, Square needs to release Versus XIII, Type-0 in the west, FFXHD and announced a KH3. As much as I'd love this, It'd also indefinitely push back an inevitable Final Fantasy XV. I don't think they will do it. I want them to do it, but not right now. Perhaps wait until Ps4 if that's whats needed, but right now, they're swamped in projects they need to finish.

But when you consider Nomura has a secret project he's been working ...

On the point with potential villains being forgotten, it was incredibly disappoting that Jihl Nabaat wasn't a boss. I just *knew* she was going to be a boss by pure previous Final Fantasy logic.... you know, she'd transform into a monster or something...and it'd be something like a Lady Yunalesca boss fight. but I guess not :|

1.5 is a score you'd give to a game that didn't even properly function...This is nonsense.

To Put this in prospective, Edge also gave the incredible Final Fantasy X a 6/10. So This doesn't really mean too much.
