"Square Anus". Aren't you clever and civil? lol
Actually, now that I think about it more logically, if Versus was cancelled, why would Square Enix have just released a DLC for Theathrym Final Fantasy, for Somnus, a song from Versus XIII?
Anyway, I hope that everyone will work to keep this news story relevant so that Square enix will comment and not try to dodge it.
"Square Enix, this source added, has also decided to let Final Fantasy Versus XIII die quietly on the vine and fade away, instead of officially announcing its cancellation. This would likely be due to the fact a public acknowledgement of a Versus' cancellation could impact things like Square Enix's stock prices."
WOW. That's just plain INSULTING and misleading.
^ Yes. Because Final Fantasy X is not even a new game. An HD remaster taking this long is absurd even if you have the smallest team imaginable working on it.
What the hell happened to the Final Fantasy X remaster? We haven't even heard one single detail about that yet.
I don't get why easy and normal exist but hard doesn't. I thought at first it was gonna come as DLC, but it never did :|
It's not Final Fantasy XV. It's Final Fantasy XIV's 2.0 new logo:
Look in the left corner of this screenshot to see the same logo:

^ Yes, I do, but have you ever seen what most of the cut content was? It was things such as Lightning's house, or the ability to dodge attacks with the right analog stick was cut. Another thing that was cut was a Zoo in the Natalius. None of these things appeared in XIII-2.
With every game of this scope, there is some degree of cut content, ESPECIALLY the Final Fantasy Series. You guys obviously don't know too much about the development history of the franchise
I'm still trying to figure out how Final Fantasy XIII is Westernized or any the First Production Departments games are westernized lately. It's not like any western game I've ever played. The Japanese steam punk, The insane pink, white and bleach blonde hair cuts, over the top weapons and moves, anime type costumes, characters like Vanille based on anime cliches...
I'm saying whether or not XIII is a good or bad game though--that debate is past me. lol. But I&...
Anyone who thinks these screenshots are a trick is an idiot. These were the original promotional images for Final Fantasy VII.
That was Kitase, and he said that in order for Final Fantasy to remain relevant, it needs to be release as regularly as western titles like CoD and AC are. If you think that's a bad thing, let me remind you:
Final Fantasy VII - 1997
Final fantasy VIII - 1999
Final Fantasy IX - 2000
Final Fantasy X - 2001
Toriyama does not have any creative control over the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Nomura has written the base story of all the Kingdom Hearts games as Nomura has almost 100% creative control of the series
The better question is, what the hell is it using those 8gb for?
If you're judging villains purely based off of how much damaged they caused to the planet, Wouldn't that *SPOILER ALERT FOR XIII-2* Make Caius Ballad the greatest villain of all time?
Of course, I judge villains based on what they add to the plot and tension, not based on how much damage they do.
I've always felt like DLC should be used to create new types of Gameplay experience that wouldn't make sense to into the course of the main game. I feel like if they're going to create DLC for a Final Fantasy it should be a truly expansive (At least 5-10 hours of new gameplay) piece of the game.
For example. If they were to make DLC for a past Final Fantasy game, take X in example, telling the full story of Jecht, Braska and Auron in a DLC expansion that's abo...
I still can't forget out how XIII was westernized. Have any of you played Western RPG's? They're complete opposite of Final Fantasy XIII. What's westernized about a Pink haired and bleach blonde protagonist with gravity defying hair, a Futuristic Japanese environment, ridiculous weapons and hair?
It's actually pretty big of him to publicly admit the decline of Final Fantasy, and say that "we have to improve". Now, the real test will be if he re-looks at the teams who's leading them (Toriyama shouldn't be fired, he should just be moved to spin off games and making new IP), and tries to invest in making it Greatest Final Fantasy we've seen since it's glory days.
For being about the 25th Anniversary of the series as a whole, I sure do see a lot of Final Fantasy VII.
It was a financial decision. The development of this game was expensive. Let me remind you, this game has went through 2 different engines already. It started on Crystal Tools, then they scrapped it for a custom game engine just for Versus. XIII took a long time in itself due to just in waiting for Crystal tools being finalized; imagine how much more of a burden that was for the Versus XIII team only to switch Engines mid-development.
Running for 6 years, and turning up very ...
