Persona 3 had a more epic storyline I'd agree but it had weaker characters imo. Probably because P3's Social Links are almost all random side characters, while at least half of P4G's are characters already integral to the plot.

AAA does not equal Hardcore...
AAA is just a title used to describe the size of the investment that went into making/marketing the game, there's no correlation between a games budget and it's status as 'hardcore'. Minecraft players can be incredibly hardcore and that's definitely not an AAA title.
AAA games are obviously just as viable as any other type of game, but this focus on trying to make EVERY game AAA quality is what's hurting ...
The sad part is I suspect this focus on blockbuster titles is only going to increase with the onset of the coming console generation.

Peter Moore's statement on the other hand implied most of the people vocally disappointed with EA of being angry because of these 2 reasons, and that's frankly insulting.
Take a look around N4G for example. TONS of EA hate and bashing, but how many times do you see people bashing them for their Madden athletes or LG...
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they recently implied the people angry with them were homophobes attacking them because they have LGBT characters in a few games, or just angry about the new Madden cover art athlete...

The methods used to attack the PSN were easily preventable if they'd been taking security seriously, furthermore the data with people usernames and passwords that was leaked were in an unencrypted text file.
I wouldn't say Sony is 'to blame' in all this, but they certainly aren't blameless.
