Why not? I don't hold EA Sports in much higher regard than I do Zynga, and some of Moore's recent statements have been just as insulting as what's come out of Mattrick's mouth.

That's an argument I see come up all the time and it's quite flawed. Having a child who died in a school shooting does not make your view more correct. Laws, their conception and their application, are to be used objectively, something a grieving parent is almost certainly unable to do. We should take how much they've suffered into account as that's a tangible impact, but having a child killed does not automatically give someone special insight into how best to stop it from ha...

That stills runs into some pretty iffy territory when considering games like TWD, Dwarf Fortress, Tetris, Super Hexagon and more.

Games don't need a climax, narrative or otherwise, but it's often an extremely satisfying way to end a game, especially for games with story elements.

Bubbles do kind of limit debate eh? I'll try to keep in mind I'm talking to someone who can't talk back in this.

'"Just" absolutely has a place in a debate about whether Joel was right to do what he did. If you wish to remove "just" from the equation then you really have no standing for arguing what would be right or wrong.'

Every person acting in the ending felt justified that what they were doing was right. What justi...

Whoa there, lets not assume that because someone didn't like the game it's being hipster.

I didn't think Infinite was good outside of the Booker/Elizabeth relationship, and in fact the 10/10s I saw for that game made me REAL skeptical going into The Last of Us after seeing some of the prerelease scores.

The review industry is run on hype, when I read an critical opinion piece or review I decide whether it's a critique or someone being contrari...

TLOU isn't perfect by any means, but most of the criticisms he brought up in this article don't hold weight.

"The purpose of any good story—even the most fantastical ones—is to make you relate and reflect on the real world in some way."

I'm not sure I understand you... Are you saying that we as a society have lost all humanity already? Because wow that's incredibly pessimistic.

So now your arguing for the needs of the few over the needs of the few? And the answer is "no." It's really simple: You cannot save humanity by abandoning huma...

1) The word 'just' has no place in this debate. The people who are in that facility are NOT the only people who would benefit from a vaccine. You say that the Fireflies attempting to kill don't deserve the vaccine because of what they've done, but what about every single other person who would recieve the vaccine? What about Tommy's group? Do they not deserve a vaccine because the people who came up with the cure were morally questionable? Are all the people who would bene...

I'd have to disagree with some of your arguments, though I do agree the way the article paints the ending is inaccurate.

*SPOILERS*

The life of one girl vs the lives that would be saved from creating a vaccine make is a classic example of "The needs of the many outway the needs of the few, or the one".

To me, Ellie would seem to be on board with this. In both the giraffe scene and the ending scene Ellie seemed willing to do anyt...

I noted that it might be because of the difficulty level, but I also said that it's no excuse.

If you don't play on Normal or Easy those criticisms are false, yet the way he phrases it he's saying they're problems with the game as a whole.

I wouldn't of minded if he said it as "If you're playing on Normal or Easy the frequency of drops can get a bit ridiculous because *insert reasons*. Those looking for a tougher time should proba...

@mat

Thanks for clearing that up.

I can somewhat agree with you on the pacing bit. Not on the entire first half of the game mind you, but I feel the part between the '20 years later' moment and meeting Ellie for the first time could have been handled better. Basically they kinda wasted Robert Atkin Downes for a tutorial that was just long enough to get a bit boring, and not long enough to give us any good payoff in terms of story to balance it out. On...

Can you please explain what you mean by Animation/Lighting/Scripted events/Invisible wall problems?

The animations and lighting in the game were some of the best I've seen in games. I also can't remember running into a single invisible wall the entire game (areas are blocked off but aside from cliffs I can't think of any invisible barriers). I'm not sure what you mean by scripted event problems either, I never noticed any technical hiccups during scripted sequ...

Well there's obviously valid reasons. I have a friend who only plays fighting games and doesn't care about storytelling, and that's a perfectly valid reason why he wouldn't like the game.

This review however doesn't hold up for me for a number of reasons:

"Nearly every person the player meets is a bloodthirsty murderer so committed to cruelty that they'll pursue it even against their own self-interest."

If yo...

Good job Microsoft.

I don't want MS to crash, since the worst things that could possibly happen to non-nintendo consoles is one side getting a monopoly.

Sony has done some pretty consumer-unfriendly moves in the past as well, lets be honest here. I have real trouble believing that if they had next to no competition they wouldn't try and push the same crap onto us.

So once again, good job on this Microsoft. I will rage against you when...

The Last of Us has an incredible story, definitely one of the better stories I've seen, but it's not my favorite story of all time. Your view on what's the 'best story' is inherently subjective anyways, which makes this question pointless.

Way to ask stupid questions IGN.

I agree Dead Space 2 is has pretty much nothing in common with TLOU.

You could definitely compare Bioshock Infinite to TLOU, but not the entire series. Bioshock 1&2 have nothing that resembles TLOU except maybe a superficial gameplay mechanic of saving little girls.

Solid review.

He gave a good summation of the characters and combat while backing them up with examples. This game is great, and it's good to read a review that can actually explain why to a reader.

Can you honestly say the main plot was better in ME2 than ME1? Not the characters, not the companion quests, the main collector plot.

That segment with Joker on the Normandy was only ever possible because the writers made Shepard go "Hey Joker, we're going to go on 'the mission' (what mission is never said)" and then proceeds to pack every single teammate who could fight into a what was until this point a 3 man shuttle.

That is lazy writ...

Around here knowledge of the law doesn't really matter.

It's more an issue of "If I like the game that resulted from the practice then I don't care if it's legal or not".

Not commenting on this particular example, but that's the reason most people are defending or condemning these kinds of things, not because they actually have a grasp on the legalities.
