The game looks fantastic, but I can't help to get over the fact that the guy you play as is an average Joe, yet he can pounce on people and throw knives like an expert hunter. I don't understand that at all.

This has been in every Battlefield game in the main series since 2002. This isn't anything new.
Just be mad at the cobsole players that don't know how to set up good servers because this is the only sense of power they think they have.
Granted, I favorite the fun servers.
Right now all of the servers are user rented. And most of them are Strike at Karkand 24/7.
The popular servers are run by the WARLORD clan and I don't mind the 24/7 servers because the maps are pretty good anyway.
It helps to favorite servers you like.
