It's a good move that they re-made the old maps. For one, they are classic and the most played maps in battlefield's history, and two they are greatly designed. Strike at Karkand is the equivelent of de_dust in counter strike. And honestly The new bf3 maps lack the personality of the bf2 maps. Also, I hope they make some snow maps in the future.
Judging from the designs, these arent remakes. They totally redisigned them to a point where they look the sane but the layout of the buildings and roads are totally new. Im glad though because i'll have to learn the new layouts but still gave the feeling of playing the original maps.
Out of those 4 maps, 2 of them are played daily on bf2: strike at karkand and wake island. Im used to playing them for hours on end without switching. Plus the fantastic oman and sharqi are just icing on the cake and are a farcry from the claustrophobic opration metro and the linear firestorm.
In addition to battlefield, other FPSs have been written off aswell because of the grip COD has on the industry. Rainbow six, ARMA, Counter Strike, etc. all good games overshadowed by the game that is COD. Battlefield won't eclipse cod in sales because COD has become a cultural phenomenon. It has been referenced in movies, TV shows, and music. If that isn't representative of how far cod's reach is, it's that it has sold better than hit blockbuster movies. It's a shame that...
Glad to see conquest assault return!
It's hard to think ill go back to the vanilla bf3 maps after this comes out.
Strike at Karkand is the most played Bf2 map. It's amazing. Also, conquest assault is kind of like rush, with flags. Both teams have ticket counters like conquest, but the people assaulting have flags that cannot be capped, while all the defenders flags can be capped. sharqi pennensula is a perfect example.
Bad company again? No, I'd rather have mirrors edge 2 or bf2143.
In order to beat cod the game has to be accessible to everyone. Which is counterintuitive considering that rainbow six is ALL about patience and teamwork. The older ones anyway.
Xbox looks cleaner. Its only a slight difference, but its noticable.
Yes, Karkand and Wake Island . What more do I need to say? Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Pennensula. If that doesn't blow your mind...
My friend got mw3 early and I asked him about it. He said it was like MW2 but balanced. I asked him how he got it early and he said Walmart was selling them and he also said he likes old people because they aren't really informed about games and release dates.
Then I asked him if it was better than bf3. He said he personally liked bf3 over mw3 so far.
As much as I love the game, a 9.5 is more justifiable.
I too was unimpressed, but that's not to say it won't be a great game, it just doesn't look too different from GTA4. Also, just the tone and presentation in the trailer was underwhelming for me.
yeah, I'm not saying the game won't be good, but I don't like IW settling for the same when they have more than enough resources to innovate and make a change. Sorta like the change from COD3 to COD4.
Prejudice much? How about you mute the sound next time so you won't hear the "gansta rap". And maybe sync some marvelous Beethoven to it in the future.
That'd be grat if the mini map actually helped. Honestly, I'm having fun with the multiplayer, but it doesn't come without its annoyances.
"can't imagine a game that gives you more" - of the same.
The singleplayer is what was a big letdown. It's a shame DICE did a carbon copy of an FPS title and didn't infuse their own flavor like they did with the Bad company titles. It was all linear and was just a big (impressive) tech demo.
All in all the SP is solid but nothing to gawk over, if anything the visuals and effects where the biggest draw.
MP on the other hand. I think aliens made that. It's "outta this world".
Conquest assault is the CLASSIC conquest mode. The defending team starts out with all of the flags capped and the other team has 1-4 flags that they start out with that cannot be capped. The attacking team has to capture the flags while the defending team has to hold them off, so it's more of a push effect.
Think of how invasions play out, and that's what it is.
