The demo played live doesn't show that.

Lighting was good IMO.

The only problem I had with it was I couldn't hear the boost sound effect over the music and engine (using the monster truck).

The vehicle models are smoother than MS1 too.

I was so busy looking around I came in last :-)

You may want to see them about your tunnel vision.

Read that in the US Playstation e-mail today. Not sure where else it applies.

Qimonda is making the (Rambus)512 XDR memory units.

Gears for example. The surface bump mapping goes way beyond anything in our world. Even real war damaged landscapes aren't quite as busy looking.

The rocks in Uncharted make my eyes hurt to look at them there's so much detail.

The real world is detailed, but muted. 3D artists will have to bite the bullet and start softening their creations into the background to match it.

Not everything is shiny and razor edged.

Combining the Cell:B.E. with the RSX chip and moving to a unified 512mb's of XDR memory instead of the split 256/256.

Maybe that will be the PS4 to meet the 720?

Does anyone know if that kind of architecture change would render current PS3 games useless?

In with Jasper, (and later) Opus and Valhalla.

See what I mean?

So they can bring in the newer, more reliable models.

If the new price carries over to the new models I'll take that statement back.

I used this guy's research:

http://forum.beyond3d.com/s...

Single Layer DVD is 1.57MB per second Faster than Single Layer Blu-ray at data transfer (on average).

Dual Layer DVD is 1.07MB per second Slower than Single Layer Blu-ray at data transfer (on average).

No. I said Blu-ray being slow is a myth.

It's slightly slower than a single layer DVD 9, but equal to or slightly faster than a Double layer DVD 9.

Most if not all disc based 360 games are double layer DVD 9 with the game content not exceeding 6.7 GBs stored on the faster read areas of the DVD. MS's hidden files fill the rest of the disc.

Blu-ray can equal or better the performance of Dual layered DVD 9.

Ms Miller from 2K has been spouting ...

Redundant data can be found on DVD as well. Oblivion being a good example.

Remember, don't bother taking off - you'll only be shot down.

Not exactly how great things come about in this world.

Just as past games in the series have pushed the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 to their limits, Gran Turismo 5 should be a system showpiece for the PlayStation 3. The first game is excellent. Use the "Bonnet Cam" if you think the game is slow (and try to keep up).

Nice character models. I hope there are more bat suit color options than the gray.

The current DK movie suit is the greatest IMO.
