I thought the first games interpretations were much more creative and interesting. For example, adding freya into the mix in a slick way were unique and interesting. I liked ragnarok but I can see where you are coming from from the story downgrade perspective. Fenrir and mimirs origins were the only unique interpretation in that regard.
To be clear:
In the myths he disguised himself as an old man to walk with mortals. That is not a game spoiler.
In the game he’s just an old man, not a disguise. My disappointment stems from an epic Odin reveal that never came.

That’s not a spoiler. The myth is thousands of years old. In the myths he disguised himself as old man to walk with humans. All of the gods were young because because they have iduns apples. How is it a spoiler by saying I’m not a fan they made Odin old with a Brooklyn accent? I think a few of the voice actor choices missed their mark, actually.
