The salty, salty atmosphere which awarding a staple Nintendo IP a 'perfect' score around here is truly twisted.
You really haven't a clue, have you? I mean, Edge will have spent numerous hours - possibly into the hundreds - reviewing this game, but you, your making a call based on trailers and scans from magazines (at best). Open your eyes Mertesacker!
Nothing guilty about it. It's a wonderful game, while not essential certainly a highly recommended. Tried Axiom Verge? Now that truly is essential. Oh, and SD2...and all these games released only recently within a short time of one another. Now with Odyssey due in 2 weeks...
A case of can't see the forest for the tree's for you, is it? Cretin.
You couldn't make this stuff up. I'm actually now thinking it must be written as ironic, surely? Meanwhile, Switch owners will be playing The Legend of Zelda: A Breath of the Wild...
Yes, perhaps (for you), but ABOTW has shown dungeon design isn't the only importance in making a great Zelda game.
Best being ABOTW, worst being Twilight Princess - while still a (very) good game it feels the only in the series canon to be treading water. A special mention goes to Skyward Sword for being utterly daring, innovative and essential.
This, basically.
I'd be willing to bet my life the majority of those hating on the notion a publication regards ABOTW as the best videogame of all time have never even tried said game for themselves, rather are blinded by some nearsighted fan boy love of a 'rival' franchise.
Having played it myself - unlike the majority of those commenting here - it's hard to disagree. Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, Mario Galaxies, all (for me) could easily take top spot, but having now played A Breath of the Wild, yes, my God yes!
Blah, blah, blah. It's A Breath of the Wild, period.
@superchiller I absolutely guarantee you didn't own or even play a lot of the WiiU's essential titles.
@sk8ofmnd yes and no. Huge supporter of the software released for it during it's lifespan. Not so much the hardware not being utilized to it's fullest. Still, looking at my WiiU library of games, I'd rate it an 8 out of 10.
Even if Nintendo 'only' dropped A Breath of the Wild this year...hit! The near certainty Mario Odyssey will be with us 2017 also...double hit! Now I know most videogame brats go through games these days like toilet roll, but I've neither the time nor can I justify hours per day playing throwaway button-mashers.
Other people commenting have a different 30 which would make the cut...shock horror.
Gutting Sonic Mania keeps getting pushed, and early reviews for Yooka Laylee sound 'meh' at best. Out of this here list, I'll likely pick up MK8 (again), perhaps, Cave Story for sure. Dragons Trap looks so far so good. The rest feel thus far very hit and miss. Still, when you have Zelda ABOTW, why the rush?
Nintendo trolls be like, yes, ABOTW may be a masterpiece for the ages, but, not having both versions running at a locked 30fps 100% of the time is unforgivable, and no, the fact many AAA games running on PS4/XB1 run worse with added screen-tearing is not the same.
F**k f***ing me! Anybody, and I mean any mother****er griping, nitpicking and generally trolling ABOTW either hasn't played it or is so jaded with videogames no title in existence would appease them. What we have here is one of the finest videogames ever created and (for me) the best in its genre.
A much overlooked game this month. Sure, it pales stood next to the AAA masterpiece that is ABOTW, but judged on its own merits, a highly recommend game for players of all ages and backgrounds.
F***ing self-proclaimed 'hardcore' geeks here in the comments with the usual "I wanna use the pro controller" whining. These are the very same who trolled Skyward Sword just because their brains couldn't be reprogrammed into a different way of thinking. It's called innovation - go on, give it a try.
