Hipsters LOVE a remake.
I can't think of a single Zelda to date which needs or requires a remake.
You could remake Skyward Sword sans Motion Plus, sure, but doing that would gut exactly what made that game innovative, unique and essential.
"the controls are an issue"...WTF!? Having played a good chunk of said game I can say confidently the controls are on point and react accordingly 100% of the time, this coupled with a killer moveset.
Reading some of these comments has me thinking, videogame fan boys are absolutely nuts - and I'm not talking Nintendo's. Anybody who has given either Odyssey, A Breath of the Wild or Mario Kart 8 - games which all were awarded 'perfect' scores - a fair crack of the whip couldn't in good conscience argue either is overrated.
As much as I'm not a massive fan of it, a new (or simple) port of Pokemon next year would attract an even greater host of followers. Then throw Smash into the ring, Nintendo has still some really big hitters to yet unleash. I've a feeling the momentum towards the Switch isn't still at full steam. Kudos Nintendo.
I'd love to know why .5 was deducted...genuinely.
We've had numerous rereleases of Ocarina with the 3DS version feeling definitive. We do not need another. Leave the series to innovate so that games such as Skyward Sword exist and not more games in the ilk of Twilight Princess.
The f***!? The game was built with Motion Plus at it's core, to remove it of that would be ripping the very heart out of what mad the game tick. Also, for those 'waggle' trolls, shaking about the Remote in most Wii games will have you fail, in this game you won't progress one iota.
An essential classic.
"a while to go to be firing on all cylinders"? Come in! It's been a stellar launched backed by some incredible games, both retail and Indie. I'm sorry, but for me this is firing on all cylinders.
Ok, I'll bite...
SMW, Galaxy (1&2), Odyssey, SMB3, Yoshi's Island, yes, in that order, and yes, I'm lumping both galaxies as a whole.
Saying all this however, I'm happier playing Odyssey today than I would likely be ANY other games in the canon.
Very, very deserving. A masterpiece.
I always buy Nintendo, if only for the half a dozen essential exclusives which follow every generation console, but the Switch has this year alone surpassed my expectations. A well considered hybrid console with an eclectic selection of games, 5 already masterpieces.
I rarely use it as a handheld, but the option exists for those who choose. Don't be so nearsighted troll boy.
This list puts Sunshine above Odyssey, SM3DW and Galaxy...WTF!?
The idea ABOTW draws heavily on The Witcher 3 is laughable, genuinely. If anything it draws on previous Zelda's while evolving and innovating. The negging of Odyssey being too easy is equally as ignorant. I've seen speed runners beat SMB is less than 10 minutes...so, easier? It's like you can't see the woods for the tree's.
Delusional? I disagree. I genuinely believe what Nintendo have created with the likes of Odyssey and A Breath of the Wild is so far ahead of what other developers are doing it puts them on a new level. These are games you'll still be uncovering details, finding new areas and generally still being surprised with years down the line.
2017 may just go down in videogame folklore.
As it should. I didn't believe as much, but good.
Giving a game 10 out of 10, 100% or whatever doesn't equate to 'perfect' - whatever that means - but it does bug me this review (for example) scored this game a 9 out of 10...I mean, what exactly does a game need to achieve to produce a 10 with this guys!?
If ever a game deserves a 10 it is Odyssey. That's not to say no flaws exist, but when a game does SO much right, a 10 should be a given.
Edit: reading the review, cons being "an u...
What "needless, dodgy waggle"? I honestly doubt you have even played said game making comments like this. 'Waggle' the Remote Plus around in this game and you won't do well, you won't get far - and look stupid in the process. This is 1:1 accuracy with minor recalibration needed at points, not "needless, dodgy waggle" as you pretend.
