Reality tells me Sony really doesn't need to counter anything Xbox does as they are again leading this gen.

Not sure why you even bring up Microsoft as this is about Sony, but reality is the Xbox brand really does not pose a threat to the PS brand even with the aquisition of Activision. As far as my take goes on the S, MS should have reduced the price of the S model. Nintendo is in their own lane so I don't see them as a threat to PS either.
The whole point of the slims are to replace, phase out the originals and make more money on each console, accessory, sold, so I get what Sony is doing here. whether I or anyone likes it or not is irrelevant at this point.
I will stick with my original digital model, but I can't hate on Sony for reducing costs per each console with no intention on passing them on to the consumer, as they are in business to return the most profits to their shareholders. They have very little competition so this is no surprise to me. They can pretty much do as they please while I expect them to sell 100 million plus of these consoles.

But, it hasn't happened so fast. Physical media has been declining in stores for years now.
Anyone who has gone into the media section of a Walmart, Target, and Best Buy recently can't be surprised by this as the physical media section in these stores now take up a fraction of floor space than what they used to.
The Logitech G-Cloud is fantastic. I use it for my Series X and PS5 remote Play and cloud play.
This is a great move by Sony other than nickel and diming you for the stand and drive. They clearly wanted to reduce manufacturing costs, and now they will make even more money per unit sold. That seems to be the goal. I am fine with my orig digital model, but they should sell plenty of these.
It's hard for me to compare this pandemic generation to any other given the outside forces we have seen take place. Everything in life has gone up in price, did gamers think games and consoles were immune? Sony virtually has little competition so they can do pretty much as they please and continue selling 100 plus million PS5s this gen.
The PS4 game runs fine and looks great in the PS5. ND told us the point behind remaking the first game was to bring it to the 2nd game standards, so what is the reason for remastering the second game?
There is no way in hell the Series X is dropping to $299. Come on, that is not reality at all. Of course there are more S models out as it was more available during the hardware shortage, and it is a lot cheaper. MS seems to be sticking with it for better or worse and I really can't feel sorry for a company whose pockets are so deep they damn near cab buy whatever they want, and clearly MS is moving away from dedicated Xbox consoles via Gamepass, to a place where gamers will have access...
The S clearly is going nowhere at this point so devs will either have to work within its limitations or don't put their games on Xbox. I am fine with either option. I am baffled why MS did not use the Series S Black model to beef up the specs, but MS is MS, dances by their own tune, and I expect they will be fine no matter what happens to the Xbox platform.
I love what they did in this game. The atmospere, visuals, sounds. Just beautifully disturbing game.

DF a great job breaking down everything in the new game. I love both GT and Forza series. Everything doesn't have to be a comparison or one or the other.
This past weekend was such a great weekend for gamers. We got Spiderman 2 which is fantasic. We got a new Sonic which is also a great game. We got Mario Wonder which is GOTY material, and also I was playing RE4 Remake Separate Ways DLC, and Assassin Creed Mirage, and other great games released in this window. Just great games, and Spidey 2 deserves all of its success. I ❤️ it.
