Meh, fine with the current model
The simple answer of whether bc is worth it is yes, to MS, to the Xbox brand, yes. Phil said they have a team working on bc, they probably don't even make games, so I really don't think they are taking resources away from X1 games pursuing this. I say, MS stay the course.
No idea how long this gen will last, not really something I worry about. Like every gen, I plan to just enjoy the games for all the consoles, and when it is over get ready for the next as I have every generation since the Atari 2600.

Haven't ran into hour long installs. My console is set to instant on. My games are installed, mostly all digital, so I buy and by the time I get home, they are installed and ready to go. Even the few disc based games I have for the console doesn't take an hour to install.

My 2013 Day 1 launch X1 has been flawless haven't experience any of the little issues that I would deem my console as broken. It is quiet as a mouse, allows me to use my 5 TB HDD, too.

This is really no surprise. Although, I own all the consoles and my console of choice is Xbox, MS made some huge mistakes at launch that would have buried most viedogame companies and have been playing catch up. They are not going to catch the PS4, that is reality. The PS3 or X360 wasn't going to catch the Wii, so MS just needs to keep doing what they have been doing since launch. They will not catch Sony but they can have a good productive generation. That is all I can ask of them. ...
Come on, looking at the Xbox history in Japan, did anyone in their right mind think the game would sell that much or any game and we certainly did not think the X1's fate would be any better than the previous 2 Xboxs. Embarrassing to me is not accurate, or realistic given how the platform has been rejected by the Japan market the previous console gens. I think most agree with what I am saying most just love bashing Microsoft and Xbox every chance they can get, while propping Sony up.
