As an owner of all three consoles, the X1 is my console of choice. The simple answer of whether bc is worth it is yes, to MS, to the Xbox brand, yes. Phil said they have a team working on bc, they probably don't even make games, so I really don't think they are taking resources away from X1 games pursuing this. I say, MS stay the course.
No idea how long this gen will last, not really something I worry about. Like every gen, I plan to just enjoy the games for all the consoles, and when it is over get ready for the next as I have every generation since the Atari 2600.

Haven't ran into hour long installs. My console is set to instant on. My games are installed, mostly all digital, so I buy and by the time I get home, they are installed and ready to go. Even the few disc based games I have for the console doesn't take an hour to install.

My 2013 Day 1 launch X1 has been flawless haven't experience any of the little issues that I would deem my console as broken. It is quiet as a mouse, allows me to use my 5 TB HDD, too.
