Same reason why it gets hyped to oblivion. I'm not saying Titanfall won't be big, but suggesting it will "kill" the highest selling FPS franchise in the industry is, as Dedicated put it, absurd.
Can't comment on Destiny until we see more of it, but there are unrealistic expectations both ways.
You're taking the opportunity to make claims when you completely misunderstood the article. Besides, around the rest of the world, the PS4 IS selling out as soon as they're stocked. "Realistic expectations" of what? There's no telling when this thing will slow down and a few units on Japanese shelves after launch certainly don't prove that this thing is slowing down anytime soon.
The one or two people who predicted over 200 million =/= that is the co...
I don't think anyone's gonna feel stupid. The console struggles with 1080p, currently, in 2014. If that improves, which is likely, awesome, but you make it sound as if people will lose sleep because it could eventually have resolution parity with its closest competitor.
It is a sensationalist headline, the way it reads. The article saying something entirely different doesn't negate that it could have been worded different, like "It's Feb 20, how far has the PS4 come since last year on this day".
That way, it doesn't come off as a claim that, somehow, Sony's promises weren't met, when the system has been out for a mere 25% of 365 days.
That's going to be some very well rounded looking models! Can't wait!
@ bessy: Neck and neck or not, the PS3 had more sales, globally, than the 360. It was big news here (reported by several sites).
Now as far as money and software, that wasn't relevant, at all, since we (or at least I) were discussing marketshare.
It isn't about MS "standing there and letting Sony beat them" (even though they've already lost two gens, in a row, to Sony). The market has embraced the PS4, and unless something changes HEAVILY in MS's favor, that's just how it's going to be.
Let's not forget that unlike last time, MS has to go head-to-head with PlayStation out of the gate. That's no easy task, not even for Nintendo, and with the price differences this gen, along with M...
@ sorane: Not sure how true that is. On their page, they show the exact same images and call them "in-game". Unless they are lying, this trailer was real time.

How could they have kept all of their promises in just a little over three months (in some cases, not even THAT much)?
Sensationalist headline, but to keep things in perspective, compare the PS3 in 2006 and 2013. Night and day. Think of what will be available in 2020 for the PS4 (even with the PS5 likely being around as well).
Sony would be just as likely of a publisher (not sure why you left them out). In fact, I think Nintendo would be the LEAST likely of the three to pick it up.
That said, it's a small team, and it's PC exclusive, so those points are currently moot.
OT: If what I just saw was for real, ACTUAL, gameplay, I'm completely sold!
You mean like every PlayStation before it? Games won't be a problem in Japan.
OT: I'm excited to see the launch figures!
Unless this is clear sarcasm, and my meter is broken, I'm not sure you're on the same page as everyone else.
OT: I don't think anything will help them beat the PS4, at this point. The games mentioned that could do it, however, are as comical as it gets, for any console. In fact, I honestly expected sarcasm out of the author, but no such revelation was made! :P
A spike in system sales for a week, or two (and maybe even three), is likely. A long term boost, however - doubtful.
He mentions games, as if the PS4 will lack them, and you call that sense?
OT: The author DOES appear sore. Right now, even with the "few games" the PS4 has, it's already got mass appeal. Imagine when the big hitters are out and it drops to $299.99. This may not even be in question by then, but it certainly won't be after the mentioned variables.
That's what it's come to? Five articles? While I'd appreciate some links, you'd be pretty naive to think that the PS4 wouldn't have run that same game at either a better res, higher frames, or both.
OT: Sony played their cards right, a complete turnaround from 2006, and it is paying off IMMENSELY! Kudos to them!
Absolutely hysterical! Bubs for you!
David Cage offers something different than most traditional games. I see nothing wrong with that.
OT: The combat in TLOU was, frankly, as good as it needed to be. I thought it was well-balanced, fierce, and fit the game perfectly.
Outside of Beyond: Two Souls, The Last Of Us, or LA Noire, hardly anything is on the same level as this tech demo. It's impressive stuff, especially considering how the cloth physics are in-tune with the motion capture.
Agreed, and beyond that, if graphics "didn't matter", what was the need for newer consoles beyond the 360 and PS3? Heck, why did we even need those, the PS2/Xbox/GameCube did the job fine, right?
That's a pretty hefty difference! Nice!
