Please watch the demo video! The demo video is awesome for people who claim they cannot tell the difference between 30 and 60fps, you will see you are able to tell the difference!
Not at all..
They can cram in much more detail with this technique, and still achive 60fps, just look at the demonstration. It is impeccable, especially when in motion. The fidelity of interpolated frames are amazing.
Look at and enjoy the fluidity of 60 fps vs 30 fps.. The extra frames come almost free, more power to them!
It uses 5 spus for this specific task, and only a small portion of their frame time (takes about a milisecond). Reading is good!
But it is nice to see this is catching on.
But this whole thing could be an advertisement in itself. Either way, Siena guys are wrong
This may be a harmless move to have LittleBig fans to acquire Move, instead of going for a 10 usd keyboard mouse combo in the beginning.
That said, move's ability to seamlessly edit the z axis (depth) is better than Keyboard mouse support for 3d content creation, IMHO.. (I hope they implement full on object creation, like the Move tech demos)
But still, RSX doesn't have the raw power to let developers run the same multiplatform data on it and forget about performance issues. Case in point is PS3 version not having grass, seems more like a GPU issue than systems having to run on PPE. If only RSX was, let's say, 20-30 percent stronger, they wouldn't have to try so hard to get the same performance out of the different platforms gpu's. NVidia screwed sony by not including a unified shader structure, to begin with.
Guys, RSX has less strength than Xbox's Xenox, end of story, this has been said time and time again by the developers. I blame NVidia for it. Don't expect multiplatform developers to go out of their way to cater to the less powerful RSX.
(I'm a Ps3 fanboy, that being said)
It is so obvious the video is slowed down, yet the sound is purposely playing at normal pitch, so this makes this fake video a blatant attempt at running for hits and spreading false information.
And Kotaku shouldn't be able to save its ass by saying "Oh, Make of it what you will!"
I think you meant Move controller with an analogue stick. The second move in your left hand would back as what the nav does now. It would be so much better, and you could have dual wielding and free motion games.
"Is Gran Turismo 5's track editor just a gimmick?
The fact that you can't individually position spectators on benches makes this track editor feature useless."
I see an ordinary cam is being used. The 60fps recording PsEye will be much more responsive.
Super stardust, zombie shooters, multiplatform psn titles (where the xbox version has multi login (mandatory) but not for Ps3 version.)
There are many standards to games published on a console, and this should be one of them.
For people comparing this to custom soundtracks is a different example, it involves in music taste and how much the game creator willing to let you not hear what the game wants you to hear.. But multiplayer login should be universal,...
For games having local multiplayer, end of story. No two ways about it.
Make it work for only 10 seconds and let it recharge after a minute. This way people would limit the way they'd work with the feature, admiring the visuals in the 50 seconds window.
What does that tell you about Kinect?
Kidding :) I wish well for Kinect. But I like my PS3.
Some of them were handed in for the "prize money" in Afghanistan, who have nothing to do with terrorism, of course most of them now "admit" to it after being waterboarded and tortured.
Probably people who bought this at full price are disagreeing, but once there's a sales plateau, reducing the price will earn the publisher even more. It's good business. (e.g. Valve sales)
But the controller lag would greatly increase. Also, since there's much less motion information available, there will be more artefacts (see the demo video), however, their power-point presentation talks about rendering portions of the scene elements at 15fps or 20fps (background for example) giving more time for rendering stuff..
A very good innovation!
