The key is to "snapshot" the subtitle quickly. Sometimes your eyes get stuck on the subtitle even though you can read it much faster. You must teach yourself to glimpse at the text and then back to the center of screen.

I'm usually good at detecting sarcasm, but since what you say is borderline outrageous yet some people could defend it, I've slipped on that one. Since there's no tonation on plain text, you have to be more "outrageous" with your sarcasm.
But I'll admit most people can't recognize even the most obvious ones..
The operating system can provide means of voice chat all the while you are doing different things, or the same thing. I don't understand how it can be patented. If it is patented, it is void because of prior art (TeamSpeak, anyone?)
The only thing they could patent, I'm guessing, is to disable voice chat of the game itself if a general chat session is detected. It is not rocket science but it is obvious, but sometimes stupidly obvious patents are merited.
Cross game chat doesn't require you to be in different games! It turns out, you can even play the same game (Surprise)

What people miss is the fact that cross game chat doesn't need to have people necessarily playing different games. We lose connection in the game if the game kicks us, or if we want to leave the server for some reason.. We lose that voice connection as soon as we depart from a game. I'd like to continue speaking to my friends and my brother regardless of whether I'm playing a match or between matches doing other stuff within the same game. Where did that info come from? Resistance 1 worked at 30fps. I think the second one worked at 30fps too, but I haven't played that one.
