Its an ever increasing by-product of devs trying to produce pc-like graphics on 6-7 year old console tech with inadequate ram.

Maybe, however we have yet to see a successful selling game thats priced over $6. Plus, phones lack a standard non-touch controller which really hampers gameplay.

Its all psychological. You dont really need that extra $1-2 dollars of points to be at zero at all times. If your that tight on money, you should get into a cheaper hobby like scrapbooking.

Theres at least a half dozen reasons why some people want new Sony hardware. You may not agree with them, but there are a bunch of legit reasons. (more ram for cross chat. more power so games that push the graphic boundaries arent so linear/on rails, better a.i. to name a few).
Whys japan such a bragging point for sony fans? its like 1/50 the sales that north america or europe does.

Kind of like how nintendo copied ps1 dual analogs sticks on the new tablet controller? Or how Ninendo said they will focus on online gaming this generation (after sony/ms have had great success with it).
