Seems like the same company to me. More like some people's perceptions have changed, same company running the same hardware (until next gen comes anyway).
Without DX, it just reeks of fragmentation. Which will only make pc optimization even more difficult.
Let me break down how much failure is involved in your comment. For starters alot games, Halo for example, use 6-8 old engines but they have been revamped and retooled to look great in the most current edition of the engine. Obviously Skyrim looks much better than Elder Scrolls.
Second, an open world game vs an on the rails game with already be somewhat handicapping itself on dated hardware.

Bestheda's curse is that they try to push the envelope of cutting edge graphics + open world combat against dated console hardware with low ram. I think this is why that have some of the issues they have.
As far as dlc, if its just cosmetic costume's, it doesn't bother me because im not going to buy it anyway. If it's extra content, it would be better to wait a few months if only for the perception of it.

Projecting media hype and personal fanboyism into a corporation is always good humor and does have a certain entertainment value.
Alot of pc users use that platform for all the exclusive mmo's and are using low end pc's to do that. So alot of them arent so concerned with graphics.
It goes both ways. Console fans hate on pc and vice versa. No side is better or worse than the other.
I think each camp just needs to accept that each has thier own pros and cons. Areas where they excel and other areas where they fall short.
Nvidia 660 is between $150-200 and is faster than the ps4 gpu, so not sure where your getting a $1,000 card comparison from. This card will be even cheaper 6 months from now.
In terms of hardware (not figuring in console optimization), the Nvidia 660 is already ahead of the ps4 (it costs $199). The Titan card (although ridiculously priced at $1,000 is light years ahead--4k res on 3 monitors).
It's great a lot of people want variety, but let's be honest here, people vote with their money. FPS games are really what are the big sellors. Their are definitely some notable exceptions like Uncharted and GoW. It's the same reason why you don't see hardly any jrpg's--they just don't sell many.
If your reading N4G, you already have internet access and are going to be always online anyways, so it's an irrelevant point to think your speaking up for someone guy out on a farm in Noweheresville, USA or some 3rd world country.
My biggest concern for the 720 is that the hardware can match sonys and I don't want a focus on Kinect. So we'll just have to wait and see the confirmed news stories.
MS has already been using PC based architure in the xbox and 360. Except for a few hiccups here and there, ms and sony are pretty solid against piracy.
Remember these companies have the power to ban your account and MS goes one step further that if your violation is serious enough (or repeat violations), they perma ban your console from ever going online again. These are big deterrents and penalties that pc's cannot match to that degree.
I prefer my gaming pc, but then again Im not on a budget (which I can understand why consoles are better for that reason).
However, I'm def going to keep an open mind for the Ps4 because of the controller, and whether or not a lot of my friends jump on board so I can play with them online.
Actually the best cards (nvidia 690 or Titan) that get taxed by Skyrim are running resolutions of 2500x1600 with 3 monitors. Consoles are at least a decade away or more from doing that. Is it ridiculously overpriced, lol yes. But let's kinda try and state the full facts here.
Bugs and Amd cards (for the pc) kinda go hand in hand.
