for the casual player it should be very easy to play for free, if you're not bothered about the best gear or mounts or getting to the highest levels.
and maybe some vanity items that offer no stat bonuses but look great.
the more hardcore players will spend money, the most hardcore players could well end up spending a lot more than they would otherwise.
whether or not you think the free to play supported by a store model is a good one will likely depend on what kin...
now that brings back memories.
i personally cannot stand gabe, not so much for his anti ps3 stance, though he has been a bit of a douchebag about it.
my main issue with gabe and valve is steam.
and the bullshit drm that infests games that force you to use it.
i can understand it on downloads, although it will absolutely not stop piracy, not for more than a few days, or weeks if they're lucky, buit when that piece of crap infests disc games tying them to a single user forever.
and that fr...
picture the last scene from the italian job, the original, at the back of the bus is piles of money, but getting to it could tip you over a cliff, at the front is customer satisfaction, safe but doesn't have the mountains of cash, though unlike the movie you still turn a profit.
which way will these's publishers go, will they listen to to what their customers want or will greed tip them over a cliff.
When a game is purchased new, EA makes money. When that same game is re-sold, EA does not make money on the sale, but there has been no net change in the number of players using the infrastructure. In fact, they may make more off that disc by re-selling downloadable content already purchased by the original owner that is then subsequently purchased by the second owner.
The point remains, EA’s business model has to contemplate a needed infrastructure based on the number of discs in cir...
that would be ok if it was a singstar or lips movie though :)
there's a word for this kind of thing, profiteering.
i remember when there was the fuel blockade here a few years back, some petrol stations decided to charge outrageous prices because of the shortage, pretty much every single one of those stations went out of business shortly after as nobody would buy from them.
too many times to list them all.
i do remember crying at the end of philadelphia and at the end of grave of the fireflies, the old show bits of their life with a some appropriately sad music after they've died is pretty much guaranteed to work on me.
in games there was the ending of mgs3, if it made big boss cry, even if it was just a single tear well what chance do i have?
there was also the bit where you finally escape the spire in fable 2 and your dog comes runn...
i think that answers the question "is our children learning?"
i would disagree, it is a great system and does offer a lot to gamers, i've got plenty of great games for my 360, it's just that it's not the most reliable piece of hardware ever.
i really don't see how that is actually legal,
firstly they're denying jobs to those who most need them and pretty much announcing they're planning on poaching staff from another company.
pachter talking out his arse again? that's surprising.
i preferred football games when you only had one or two buttons, fifa 09 had nine pages dedicated to the controls, for a fast paced football game that's frankly ridiculous.
give me a button for passing and a button for shooting and i'm happy.
i don't know when trying to not get killed became such a bad thing, running hell for leather around the map is not actually a very sound strategy, not if you have a dislike for getting shot anyway.
that they're not running around in the open so you can shoot them easily does not make them bad players.
that said, the best way to make sure you don't get killed is to kill the other guy first, hiding out in a corner of the map is not going to accomplish that.
a...
for hundreds of years we've been able to resell the media we've bought and paid for, that includes books, videos, music and games.
why now does the videogame industry suddenly think they deserve to keep making money on what is now our property?
you know why? greed.
the game has already been paid for, whether the original user keeps playing or a second user the price has already been paid.
they're not losing money, in fact with most trade ins going t...
he's the biggest lack of character in gaming.
well him and the guy from bioshock.
there is talk of shooting on the sequel starting this year, with rahdha mitchell to return.
4 player? have they even shown any two player games yet?
i say take a chance and go with a female shepard, and maybe get cameron to direct, he has a history of strong female characters in his movies.
and come on, you know you want to see a jane shepard/liara hook up in the movie. :)
seruously though, how many movies have there been with the generic macho hero, how often is it that it's a women saving the universe?
a decent controller is reason enough for me. :)
