I think you should be fine. I have dual 6990m's in CF. And they handled Ultra in the beta around 50 fps... Granted, all of the polishing of the 'true' Ultra was likely not in the beta, but I'm still expecting 40+ fps.
You will not be able to see the type of graphics in the videos... you'll probably have to play it on low, if it will play at all.
He will still need to overclock the gpu if he wants to max out settings for the next few years... that card is already pushing the limit for games coming out this year w/o overclocking. Meaning he can still max most of them out but will probably be w/in 30-40 fps @ 720p... possibly lower at 1080p. Newer cards can max out today's games with a butter smooth 60+ fps @ 1440p!
You'll probably be fine. I know you can max out Witcher 2 with the GTX 460, around 45 fps. The newer cards art the GTX 5xx though.
Lol, PC gaming is not dying, it's growing. And people still play on PC b/c it a better playing experience. I have a PS3 and a gaming pc. There is not a single game on consoles that have graphics that approach my pc!!!
And while most games on consoles are 720P or less, we have games in 1440p on pc. More detailed graphics than you've ever seen if you only game on console.

I don't buy that for a moment. The game couldn't fry the system... the gpu or cpu would have to overheat. If they overheated, it is more likely to the machines being overclock'd than the game itself.
If you overclock your machine and don't monitor the temperature, there is always the risk of overheating.
If it were a problem with the game, it would just cause the game to crash... not the entire system.
Actually, the PS3 footage still looks pretty good... just not as good as PC. And it SURE AS HELL looks better than the graphics in Modern Warfare lol.
I pre-ordered a new laptop (GTX780DXR) just for this game, Witcher 2, and Skyrim! I have a PS3 but this game definitely deserves to be played with the graphics max'd out.
It is truly THE ultimate modern warefare simulator. :-)
Exactly, this is the real issue. By the time PS4 and the next xbox come out... Nintendo will be outdated once again.
Still, I'm down for an HD Wii if the game lineup is any better this time around. I'm not really into Ninty's first party line-up titles other than Zelda and Metroid... so unless they get better love from 3rd parties this time around... I'm not interested.

Dude, kojima is not making anymore PS exclusives anyway...this just means that PS Vita gets included with the PS3 and 360 versions.

This is cool... and I hope that all Vita games incorporate the feature. But seriously, there's only going to be 1-2 new games from them this gen anyway, lol. But I'm sure the feature will carry over to the PS4.

Yea, I don't believe it either. Santa Monica seemed pretty serious about moving on to a new IP after the end of the trilogy. I was actually hoping they'd pick up the Heavenly Sword IP for Sony.

Don't even start to fall for this. the Xperia Play that Sony just released has 512 MB of RAM. And the high end android phones have 1GB of RAM already. There is no way that the NGP will ship w/ less memory than the PlayStation phone, lol!!!
Funny enough, I thought the first Warhawk has a far more addictive gamefly formula than any of the Cod's have. The unlockable's & killstreaks keep COD fun, but the moment to moment gameplay in Warhawk was way better imo.
The return of the best online game of this gen!!! 2012 can't come soon enough!
I'd like to know this too... I'm not sure about objectives, but you can certainly pick the style of play down to the weapons and abilities, which is cool.
