1 - He didn't like the time chosen to explain nectar tactics
2 - He didn't see the benefits of nectar as he felt it was easy to win (a benefit of nectar)

I own a 360 and it wasn't built with legs. That is to say, it wasn't built for the long run with long term innovation in mind. DVD9 is proof enough of that. The PS3 was constructed and designed with that future benefit in mind.

It isn't odd at all. For many people gaming is a huge part of their life. My wife and I have no children it is a huge hobby for me and now part of my employment since I am leaving the military. Many others are the same way. Some people hang out and drink at a bar shooting pool, some go to Little League games and some just game. Look at this:
Nintendo can't produce enough consoles. Price isn't their issue. Halo 3 launched too early. Three months before Christmas is enough time for the newness to wear off and people will want something 'hot'. New and hot as in a new and hot console.
The Halo effect has dropped off. The number of players is also dropping. There is bigger competition than when Halo 2 launched and as good as the game is it won't sustain the 360 sales.

Well there wasn't a Gears demo or a Halo demo. No real surprise even though Payton had stated earlier work was being done but that is now obviously a trade show only affair. Oh well, I'll be at GDC in February and will check it out there.
