I hope the combat is better. The combat in the first game was so barebones, I got bored and didn't finish the game. Even the gameplay trailer they showed for this game didn't look particularly engaging.
Well one platform has a much bigger userbase with its service having been around a long time. The other has a smaller, growing userbase with a newer and also different service. Not really a good comparison either way.
While i'm not a huge 'souls' fan, i did really enjoy Dark Souls 3 and the Demon's Souls remake. Bloodborne though just didn't gel for me. I prefer the slower, more methodical combat of the Dark Souls games (which feels very similar in Elden Ring). I also wasn't actually a big fan of the sort of Victorian aesthetic of Bloodborne. I prefer something a bit more medieval.
While I'm enjoying Elden Ring as a game to keep me going for a while, the more...
The open world part is cool, but as soon as I got to Stormveil Castle, that entire section just felt like any Dark Souls game. I'm definitely enjoying the game, but I certainly would give it 10/10.
The major difference is no day one first party games. PlayStation would be dropping revenue doing that, so I don't know why people would think they'd do that. Businesses don't generally look to make less money. Xbox had no choice but to try something different and have a trillion dollar company behind them to keep them going while they grow their base.
Day one games is good, as long as those games are something you want to play. I've cancelled game pass as t...
Well game pass couldn't keep me subscribed, so I won't be bothering to upgrade past the base PS Plus tier.
I'm playing on PS5 and have noticed some drops. It's very playable though.
The art style is indeed very good. I think I just expect more from their models, textures and animations these days. Be interesting to see if their next game feels a step up graphically if it is for next gen only. I just kind of feel it won't be though.
Agreed. I just think after this many games and in this day and age, I expect more from this studio in terms of technology and the technical aspects of their games.
I guess I'm just more fussy when it comes to actually giving some sort of score. So far I'd give it an 8.5-9. I still stand by saying things this game gets a pass for would see other games blasted and marked down for.
I really enjoyed Dark Souls 3 and the Demon's Souls remake. Never really got into Bloodborne or Sekiro, those game just didn't gel for me like Dark Souls 3 / Demons Souls did.
I'm about 20 hours into Elden Ring and yes, it's really good. The step up to open world has worked well and I'm glad the combat is more in line with Dark Souls than Bloodborne/Sekiro. Lovely art style too. Managed to beat Margit first go as an Astrologer. Was actually really easy w...
Got the platinum like I did for HZD. Absolutely loved the game and already miss it. Can't wait for DLC.
Maybe those types of game just aren't worth preserving?
And this is why I cancelled game pass. Another slew of games I have zero interest in. Unless they start getting big third party AAA games day one (action/adventure/RPG type stuff), I'll probably just get a month here and there when they finally release games like Starfield and Fable. Been so disappointed with game pass.
"My favourite part is the terrible performance and optimisation. 10/10".
Seriously, any Xbox or PS game would be slaughtered for the absolutely atrocious technical performance of this game.
Guardians was a great game, i'm mainly into third person action/adventure/RPGs. But again, this comes way too late. This is why i've cancelled game pass. The vast majority of games on it, I'm just not interested in and the ones i am, I've already played before they get to the service. Game Pass just holds no value for me in its current state.
I can't think of many other games/developers that would have their absolutely terrible optimisation overlooked in all these reviews.
Once i hit the 'open world', I was done. It was utterly boring out there and had no visual appeal at all. Halo feels much better to me as a linear experience with big set pieces.
That's some spin. It is shit awful.
Come on, don't defend the TRILLION dollar company. They aren't some saints trying to protect gaming. They're a huge corporation trying to gain as much market share as possible to their gaming platform seeing as gaming is the biggest entertainment earner in the world. That's why they bought a company with massively popular third party IPs.
Microsoft is no different to Amazon, Google or Apple. So if you cheered this acquisition, I expect you to also be cheerin...
Obviously not hitting the sales targets they wanted or they wouldn't need to resort to this. In Australia you've reliably been able to buy a Series S for well over a year. I've seen it on sale three times.
