Alan Wake was/is the victim of some lackluster marketing. But also, that game isn't exactly an all around crowd pleaser as a lot of people don't really get it or are not into that particular kind of storytelling. That game was always destined to be a cult classic. The game is very similar to the TV show "Twin Peaks" which had a devout following but at the time was considered to be a "niche" show. Remember, not all gamers go to N4G every day to check out gaming news...
Makes Mortal Kombat look like a Candy Land sequel.
This game was slightly underwhelming only because of the 5 year long hype behind it. Still, its very atmospheric, creepy as hell at times and has a pretty good story to keep it afloat. The ending alone provokes intense debate. I, myself, would really like to see the series continue.
The fact that a "niche" title like Heavy Rain selling so well on the PS3 doesn't hint at anything in regards to the overall catalog of titles available on that system? It does to me.
The last episode in the game was pretty great. Anyone who loves David Lynch would really like this title.
Makes me feel like I'm discussing video games with my old friends again.... from GRADE SCHOOL. Seriously, why was this even approved?
This was one of the better ones, even if the plot was a little out there.
He has been consulting on 3D tech with other film directors for awhile, I can see this being true being that Killzone 3 will be a 3D release.
I have never seen this many people in denial since... hell, I don't know. All you have to do is look at the agree/ disagree counts for the comments to know who the audience is that's reading this. If PSN+ Eclipse or whatever it's called gets dropped on th epublic for $120 a year, I'm just dying to read the justifications afterward, especially considering that up until now, MS was being lambasted for offering their service for $50 a year while PSN was free.
Are any of you people going to commit suicide because ONE guy didn't feel like a couple of Sony games were GOTY material? I mean, seriously folks. God of War will most likely make a lot of Best of 2010 lists as will Heavy Rain. The only people making a stink about this are those who have some strange commitment to the PS3 and feel that everything is a conspiracy. I'm just hoping Bayonetta doesn't get forgotten at the end of the year, that game was absolutely fantastic.
Last go around, I bought each costume pack as they were being released and then when they finally released the last one, they also began selling a discounted complete costume pack. I am definitely waiting this time, if I bother getting these at all. In fact, these downloads should be free.
Dead Space needs to be on this list if its to be taken serious. Still, good call on including Fatal Frame 2 in there, the ONLY game that has ever given me nightmares.
Got surgery which removed most of his lower jaw. He can't speak anymore either.
... but looking at the feedback to this article, which I'm willing to bet that 95% of you DIDN'T bother reading, makes me ashamed to be lumped into the same "gamer" category as the lot of you. While I don't agree with Ebert's "Games Do Not Equal Art" argument, having a bunch of idiots come to the rescue of said games with some of the most ridiculous arguments, bashing and general immature statements make not only you look bad, it makes us ALL look bad. The only other time ...
That game was so deep, you could play it for months before seeing everything the game had to offer. It had a fantastic soundtrack and some of the best surround sound ever in a video game. It was also the one game that would allow you to make your way up the mountain in 3 tiers and then finish it off by doing one huge run down all three tiers. That to me was one hell of a game.
... out of 10?!? Wow. AC2 is in no way, shape or form deserving of that low a score.
For one, so what if it's 8 hours long? Like the article says, there's nothing wrong with 8 hours of brilliance. Secondly, he beat the game in 8 hours and change on the normal level, which is what the majority of the games purchasers will be playing. And it's the default setting installed by the developers themselves. Just accept the facts, they're right in your face. And in the end I repeat, so want?
So, Greenberg retweets an article on N4G and he's fanning the flames of the ridiculous console war? Whatever. If anyone bothered to read the article he retweeted, it was a well written op-ed piece on rampant Sony fanboyism.
Well written article.
Considering how much ME2 was getting trashed by PS3 owners upon its release. You sound like a Knicks fan talking about Lebron.
And another thing: can you back up that its a "fact" that PS3 owners are more open to different kinds of games? Are you not old enough to know that generalizing people is a pretty ignorant way to get your point across?
