Nope, I was never interested in that game and don't understand all the praise. I like Nazi Zombies better and that was essentially free. L4D should have been a cheap download game IMO. Valve has failed to impress this gen, yeah Portal was good but it's a not one of the greats in my mind. Make HL3 of finish HL2 and I'll pay attention to Valve.
The only game in my 18 game collection I haven't passed (yet) even though I've had it for a while is Bayonetta. I like the game while I'm playing it but for some reason I never feel like playing it.
I can tell a great game simply by the fact that all I want to do is play the game, GoW3, Reach, Red Dead, ME2, ect. were like that
Killzone 2 had more pre-orders than launch sales. Remember the controls controversy, a lot of people hated the lag/weight/lag feel to them and cancelled after playing the demo (I still bought the game). Dumbest move by a dev ever, it turned tremendously positive hype to extremely negative.
No one would have said, "I love the game but the controls are too responsive".

Gears 1 was one of the best games this gen, Gears 2 one of the most overrated. I'd put Halo 3 on there as well.
Gears 2 - the SP was good (not amazing) and the MP was some of the buggiest MP i've played all gen and it stil sometimesl takes forever to find a match. The reviewers never even mentioned the gamebreaking MP problems.

I much prefer 360 and PS3 exclusives over nintendo exclusives. I have no desire to play Zelda, or Mario games and there's way better shooters than Metroid. Yeah I grew up on Nintendo...then outgrew Nintendo.

If I bought a PS3 within the first year to year and a half of launch I'd be sick of it too. Frankly PS3 sucked, it had virtually no games, horrible online a terrible multiplats. Now out of my 360 and PS3, I think the PS3 is the superior console in almost every regard (I still wish they would redesign the same 15 year old controller design.
Microsoft didn't fulfill a promise? WHAT. Standard practice by MS just look at kinect promises 2 years ago and its actual functions now.
I doubt any company will adopt the loss leader strategy next gen considering how much losses they incurred this gen and still haven't recovered. Expect a new console when the companies can deliver a marked graphical improvement for $400.
I can see how MP is killing games sales. I remember when a game would typically last my friends 20-40 hrs then they'd need a new one (with the exception of old RPG's). Now they're logging 100+ hours into MP alone obviating the need for new games. Instead of 6-8 games a year they buy 2-3.
Most my games still last me 20-40rs b/c I get bored with MP really quickly.
PS3 Slim needs needs a redesign, it's not at all sexy and to big.
A good example of 360s relative lack of power is Reach (which I love). The game never has that feeling of being on a battlefield because of a lack of post processing, debris and smoke - the 360 struggles on that game and nothing is really going on on the screen. It never feels like i'm immersed in a war like Killzone 2. War needs smoke and debris and destruction, all of that is missing from Reach. Still I've put almost 30 hrs in it already so graphics can't be everything.
360 couldn't handle many of PS3's exclusives but PS3 could handle all of 360s exclusives.
I don't care about L4D, give me Half-Life.
