O_o
That's just...wow.
Just an honest question:
Of the upcoming (potentially) "hardcore" Kinect games like the new Steel Battalion, Panzer Dragoon, etc, how much do we REALLY know? Heck, these games are barely out of the tech demo stage. And Star Wars? Was I the only one who saw Microsoft's faked Star Wars Kinect demonstration?
Peace Walker is my GotY. There were plenty of other great games this year, but Peace Walker was simply mind-blowing. Too bad it's on handheld. Therefore, no GotY (handheld games pretty much never get GotY for some reason).
No co-op in campaign? Then it's only an 8/10, obviously.
/s Just giving this game the same treatment that Killzone 2 received. "Uhh...okay, so the graphics really ARE amazing...uh...but...it doesn't have co-op! (even though Guerilla never announced it) so we're gonna have to subtract some points from your review score!"
This was one of the best years for handhelds.
On DS: new Layton, new Golden Sun, new Dragon Quest, and more
On PSP: new Metal Gear Solid, new GoW, new Valkyria Chronicles, new Phantasy Star, and more
I hope gamers can keep an open mind and see the genius of LBP2. This game is going to own. I've been playing the first LBP since Day 1 and the community is still growing, learning, and coming up with unexpected things, even 2+ years after launch.
Yep, and they squandered their advantage. How many studios do they have now? Three? And aren't most of those focusing on Kinect? *tsk* Microsoft needs to wake up.
PS3 has a lot of great games coming up, whether exclusive or not. I know I'm getting Dead Space 2 and Portal 2 this year, as well as Marvel vs Capcom 3.
My favorite graphics of '10 were from 3D Dot Heroes. They obviously aren't as technically impressive as God of War or Heavy Rain, but I loved the "LEGO" look to everything.
The "Game of the Year" award is not flawed, considering the fact that dozens and dozens are handed out by various publications. Now, if Spike TV's VGAs (for example) were the only GotY that people cared about, then yes, GotY awards would be flawed.
Microsoft also claimed "Project Natal will cater to both our hardcore gamers and to new audiences". Remember THAT claim?
As of right now, Microsoft needs to put their money where their mouth is. They have nothing whatsoever that is topping KZ2, and let's just not mention that KZ3 and Uncharted 3 are coming out this year...
IGN makes me laugh. Anyone who believes them should go do "sales tracking" for VGChartz.
I agree. The first game was a top-notch platform with the most unique art style in quite a long while. The editing tools were great and the range of levels was incredible.
LBP2 looks to be 10 times the game that LBP was, and I can't wait to play it.
The master has now become the student.
Pretty much every 3rd-person game is now influenced by Uncharted. Heck, we already have an "Uncharted clone" (Enslaved) less than a year after Uncharted 2.
In before "but but but PC!"
I do love the PS3's graphics, but the physics and realistic animations of PS3 games are really what sell me.
Yeah, I was confused by the journalist hate of GT5. And no, it's not a conspiracy. PS3 owners just want consistency between reviews, that's all.
Biggest story of 2010 was Mass Effect 2 going to PS3. The highest-rated 360 exclusive is now multiplat. Bigger news than FF13 going multiplat.
I wish they would have shown off more Move-only games. Not that those games look bad, but I want to see something that REALLY exhibits Move's capabilities.
The demo does not do the game justice. The demo makes it feel like the game is 75% cutscenes with sparse gameplay thrown into there, but that is not the case. ME2 is packed with action.
Also, in response to your "I wish I could interact with the cutscenes somehow": the dialogs are pretty much this. A lot of the game is spent investigating and learning new things through dialog trees. This IS an RPG, after all. If that isn't your cup of tea, so be it.
If true, that's awesome! Yet another title for Move aimed at the hardcore.
Oh wait. I'm sure someone will come in and shout "but it wasn't designed from the ground up for the Move, so...so...so it doesn't count!" just like they did for MAG, Heavy Rain, RE5, and KZ3.
Edit: Disagree? Hahahahh. Okay, N4G. Okay.
Microsoft needs to get on the ball.
