Kind of a fail list. The runner-ups were new releases. The iPhone has been out for years (the new hardware revisions this year were minor).
You might as well have put Wii on that for giving us a 25th Anniversary red Wii.
Really excited to play this. I have been apart of the LBP community since the start (PM me if you want to look me up. I have a level with 2,000+ hearts and over 30,000 plays).
I can't wait to dive right back in with LBP2. Anyone else gonna make some sick levels?
I downloaded this and was pleasantly surprised. It's unlike any puzzle game out there, although it can be needlessly frustrating at times (sometimes its way too freeform).
Anyone who likes simple visuals and pretty music should give it a try.
"Exclusive" to many 360 gamers means "not available on PS3". They're the only gamers on the planet who use this logic of "exclusive = not available on competitor's console".
Perhaps now people are willing to admit that the "blind PS3-fanboy conspiracy theorists" were right about something.
People forget that the "graphics" department also includes many important "gameplay" aspects such as the number of enemies on screen, the physics engine, the amount of detail (making it easier to identify enemy types, etc), and so forth.
Only fanboys separate gameplay and graphics. They go hand-in-hand and the better both are, the better the game is.
Yet another AAA review of this great game. The 21st can't come soon enough!
9s and 10s across the board. Seems like even the pickiest reviewers have to admit that LBP2 is ace.
What's with these below-average scores from no-name European websites?
Whatever. An opinion score (a.k.a "professional" review) won't dampen my childish excitement for this game. Bring it on! I'll see you all on the servers in a few weeks!
Great review! WOOOOO! Can't wait to play this game with my wife in just a few weeks!
I think all three mentioned games were excluded for a reason.
GT5 - whether you agree with the review scores or not, GT5 is a racing sim, and racing games win GotY...never.
Halo Reach - the multiplayer was good, but the graphics were outdated, the campaign was average, and there were a tiny amount of maps included with the game
Black Ops - thank the Lord this game didn't get GotY awards across the board. It's broken and deserves no recognition.
Personally, I wasn't disappointed in the games I played this year (though of course I couldn't play everything).
To be honest, most games surpassed my expectations (example: Singularity, 3d Dot Game Heroes, and Bioshock 2 ended up being much better than I thought they'd be)
Yep, I completely disagree with putting PSP on that list. My PSP has had constant use this year. MGS: Peace Walker, Valkyria Chronicles 2, GoW: Ghost of Sparta, and several smaller games like Claddun.
That list is pretty good. I'd like GTA5 to have:
- more freeform mission system. Why should I have to drive all the way across town, stand in a colored circle, and then drive all the way back across town to get to the objective?
- bring back the customization. San Andreas is still the most freeform GTA game to date. It has lots of customization and a lot of crazy things you can do. GTA4 was a huge downgrade in this department.
Jade Empire was/is one of their best games. It definitely ranks up there with KotOR and Mass Effect, in my opinion.
Don't know why people are disagreeing with egidem. Microsoft did indeed say that "2011 is all about Kinect".
Microsoft WILL announce new games....for Kinect. They'll be "hardcore" games, but not really. (heck, they fooled everyone into thinking Kinect was hardcore with a few CGI trailers for that new Panzer Dragoon and Steel Battallion without showing ANY gameplay)
I know a review is just an opinion, but I wonder what is a 10/10 in their book. The content and creation tools alone should warrant a 10/10.
The complaints about the jumping and running are stupid. The platforming physics are much tighter than they were with the first game.
And naturally, "fuzzy" controls deserves major markdowns in score, so I can understand that. /s
My PS3 is going to be in constant use. Not only do I want to replay some games (Bioshock 2 and 3D Dot Game Heroes), but I have LBP2, Dead Space 2, and Dead Space Extraction to take up my time. I won't even have the chance to play ME2 (gonna wait until summer).
Makes sense that an Xbox site would complain about a lack of creativity. However, I'm seeing plenty of creativity on other platforms.
Edit @ below
I never said 360 only had bad releases. The article discusses how the current industry lacks creativity. My comment was a rebuttal, stating that I see plenty of creativity across many game platforms, just not on the 360 (right now).
Yet another fantastic review.
C'mon, people. Be true gamers. Play LBP2. It'll do ya some good.
