Someone below commented below that Microsoft did something right... Why in the world would they change the programming of XBox so it couldn't be a simple port to the PC? It only makes sense.

I agree. The article was talking about making changes to the original while keeping the same story line. That would be the ultimate fail. FFVII was the perfect story and game play turn based game I can remember. No other RPG had a lasting memory like FFVII. Leave the game as is with updated graphics. That is the ONLY problem with the game.

I'm sorry but this is not that same gaming era. Sega's crushed their name brand with multiple system addons they didn't support and the horrible Sega Saturn (all of which I still own). People didn't trust Sega. Sony PS1 was awesome and PS2 could only be "awesomer". That is why a simple annoucement was a success.
Fast forward to current generation - The announcement of the PS3 didn't stop people from buying the Wii or the 360. So...I disag...
@OpenGL - What you speak is probably correct in regards going with a energy effecient mobile model of the card. TSMC 28nm based GPUs won't be an issue by late 2013 or early 2014 as they are a very respectable chip maker.

There is no other company I would like to do a Transformer MMO than Blizzard. But I think this is highly unlikely as long as World of Warcraft has future expansion releases.

With the assumption this Xbox will be released in 2013, a lower wattage model(or even a xbox specific) HD7000 GPU could easily be included.
So that means Sony has two handhelds with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Vita. Your logic doesn't really add up.
VII is by far my favorite but exactly like you said, the graphics make it difficult to play in this day and age. The cut scenes are decent tho.
VII just had so much stuff to do and hidden items and mantras you could spend forever trying to find everything (without the cheat books/internet).
