I'm saddened by how many people are pushing other irrelevant topics into the discussion (feminism, online harassment etc.).
What about the average gamer who simply want to read honest reviews and articles concerning their favorite hobby? What are we supposed to do? Let corruption prevail because "online bullying is wrong"?
Of course. I don't see any reason why not. Because people might get offended? In that case we might as well ban video games all together.
If you don't like it, do like me and simply don't buy it.
Death threats are being sent to both sides of the argument but it always end with gamers being the bad guys because the opposing side has equality, anti-bullying and freedom of speech to fall back on. Gaming simply isn't exclusively about that and so it becomes an easier target.
There are trolls and harassers everywhere. Being a gamer doesn't make you associated with these people in any way.
Those elements alone doesn't make the games play the same though. For example the combat and story in all of those games are vastly different from each other. I know people who love FC but dislike AC because there's enough difference between the games to make them stand on their own.
I'm not saying they're not lazy for reusing various gameplay functions, I just don't think it's comparable to what CoD is doing.
That's a bit of a stretch imo. There are similarities in some gameplay elements and a lot of the games are based on broken promises and cut out content DLC but there's still significant differences between most Ubisoft games. CoD on the other hand is quite literary the same game over and over.
In response to the article - No, just no. Linear and open world games will be able to live alongside each other just fine like they always have.
I bought the game knowing nothing about it and I was surprised by how alive the world felt despite the rather horrible looking characters and animations. The quests were also way more interesting with a lot of surprises compared to Skyrim. The Dark Brotherhood was just epic as well.
Also, in Skyrim I was more annoyed by the constant draugr dungeons than I was with the cliff racers in Morrowind...
If you don't want people to buy it, maybe it's not the best idea to give the game even more free publicity. I wouldn't know about this game if it weren't for all the articles talking about how awful it is.
This has more to do with the fact that it's made by just one person. UE4 can look much better than this (no offence to the creator, it still looks awesome). It really depends on the artist.
Depends on how you define "high end". From what I've seen, neither console is able to reach both 60 fps and 1080 when it comes to what I would call high end graphics.
This whole framerate/resolution debate is just really tiresome. I don't think developers should have to worry about those numbers that much. Make the game you want to make first and then do your best with the remaining resources you have to try and reach a stable framerate and reasonable resolu...
This is as stupid as saying you hate all Christians because of the Westboro Baptist Church.
You know what? It's even more stupid than that because death threats and misogyny isn't related to GamerGate in any way. There have been death threats sent to a lot of GamerGate supporters as well. Does that mean we should get rid of feminism? Does #StopFeminism2014 sound good to you? I don't think so.
I don't think so. Don't quote me on that though. I think that's one of the biggest reasons why early access games don't get reviews.
I'm all for reviewing a game based how it performs at the time of release but I don't think the score should be that affected by it. Just mention if you've experienced network problems at release and that it will probably be fixed in the near future.
But hey if Polygon updates their reviews, chances are they will bring the score up when the game is functional again. In that case there's no need for panic.
With that said, it's still pretty ...
I rarely take advantage of these free weekends. I'll make sure to pick up Payday 1 though. Free to keep forever! I actually have a bunch of games I've got for free from similar promotions (not just from steam). No silly subscription fee required.
I'm really happy to see they went with 60 fps. The art style is enough to make the game look great anyway.
You don't shut a game down because of a metacritic score... That's just idiotic.
At least it's their choice and not some publisher. Publishers who punish developers because of metacritic are just the worst.
Both lineups have been pretty terrible. Most of my entertainment this year has come from multiplatform titles.
Agreed but every preview I've seen is based on that one demo though. We'll have to wait and see how things turn out. Looking at job ads probably won't be helpful at all.
This feels an awful lot like an advertisement...
The reason why this happens isn't because MS is handing out checks. It's happening because it's faster and cheaper. The PS4 version COULD be better but that would most likely require more development time and money. To companies like EA and Ubisoft, it's simply not worth it because let's be honest, the game will sell no matter what.
This WILL keep happening and as bad as it sounds - get used to it. It would happen even if the Xbox One was the most powerful...
I think there are some things you need to realize.
1. GamerGate isn't just one person. Blaming an entire movement (if you can even call it that. It's more of a consumer uprising) for the actions of a few individuals is just ignorant. In a world where anyone can be anonymous, these will always be people who say dumb sh*t. I can point towards a feminist sending death threats and then say "we should end feminism!" but I don't. Guess why? It's because th...
