Huge hype and marketing budgets but as soon as they release and the marketing machine stops, everybody forgets about them. No sales figures, no milestones reached and no community.
You automatically get a high attachment rate when your hardware sales are low. The Wii U software attachment rate is even higher.

The issue is not the money or profits, at least for now. Nintendo has a business strategy where they do not put too much money into their hardware and marketing so they do not need to sell truckloads of hardware to breakeven or make a profit. They have been suffering for the past three years but they are somewhat recovering even if barely making a profit.

Always online is just not possible yet. There are too many issues and inconsistencies. We have had several games suffer when they try to be always online or even just focus on mostly online. Just a few days back, Destiny on PS3 went down for the whole Europe and Indian subcontinent!
