It will stay relevant in the conversations and articles especially if the PS4 is the stronger of the 2. With developers praising its ease of development and the shear power. Only Sony can fuck this up.

So the general consensus is they will be pretty much even with what each other will have to offer. But one major difference will be the subscription services they offer. If you think Xbox will be free next gen, keep dreaming. If anything, get ready to pay more than you do now. But that won't be something they will share with us on the 21st.

Your missing one very important point. The last Halo, Gears of War and Forza were not made by the originating developers. I know, I know it because they busy making next gen games. So what are they doing to support the 70+ million 360's (of which probably only 60 % are functional) ? I hate to say it but MS has already given up first and second party support and is solely relying on third party to make them not look like they did last gen. They've got nothing else to cling onto. Sales numbers for the US is the tell all and be all for some here on N4G. With less and less support coming to the 360 from MS, and yet the fanboys still think MS is all for the gamer... Maybe you've havent heard, but the the Vita has a rear touch pad and a front touch screen so I don't think the R3, L3 will be much of an issue.
I would think the install base on the PS3 is reason enough. MS launching Forza on the next Xbox with an unknown install base at launch is a bigger gamble IMO...
