A very reliable blogger in Japan expects Xbox One's first week sales in Japan to be 38k. That would be just a bit over a tenth of the numbers that 3DS, Vita, Wii U and PS4 pushed. It would be less than some hardware revisions like Vita TV.
Monster Hunter isn't as big on consoles as it is on handhelds. The best selling entry on PSP sold 4.5 million units in Japan. The best selling entry on any home console in Japan sold just under one million.
The author of this piece seems to have forgotten that New 3DS is as much Nintendo emulating Apple as Wii U and DSi were. Apple released something called the New iPad. It caused massive consumer confusion and Apple reverted back to a more normal naming scheme.
I also disagree with the opening comment about wanting to encourage more hardware revisions. Part of the reason people buy dedicated hardware for video games is because it's simple. There shouldn't be compatibili...
I wouldn't expect new game announcements from that presentation. It's aimed at the non-Japan regions of Asia. You'll see localizations in Korean, Chinese, etc. and local specific hardware news. They held the same kind of presentation last year.
Sony can't "smother" iOS/Android. That's impossible. Sony won't "smother" 3DS because they don't like Vita. There isn't a competition between them and Microsoft in Japan because Microsoft doesn't care, and Nintendo is doing its own thing.
Tidux isn't legit. He said there would be Vita love at Gamescom. Vita was mentioned twice during that entire presentation and one of those times was it losing an exclusive.
I guess it's time for them to take the ultimate poop on Vita owners and announce Gravity Rush's sequel ... exclusively for PS4. Sigh ...
That is for the rest of Asia. Last year they held one too. It was just announcing game localizations in Korean, Chinese, etc. I wouldn't expect new games there.
#1 - Inafune didn't create Mega Man: http://www.gamespot.com/art...
#2 - The Virtual Console releases are entirely Capcom's doing. You don't see those games on PS3 or 360 because they don't exist through that hardware lineage*. Capcom isn't doing anything special to these Virtual Console releases. They're just ROM dumps in an of...
Reminds me of Borderlands 2 on Vita.
Silent Hill isn't really popular in Japan. The lat few have sold well under 100,000 copies. As such, TGS would be a weird venue to make that announcement, unless the exclusivity was only for Japan.
The way Sony regularly takes a shit on Vita owners. They've got their's, so who cares, right?
This will sadly happen. Sony hates Vita owners.
Knowing Sony, it'll be about something Vita becoming something for PS4. We already know that Tearaway and Final Fantasy Type-0 are gone, so Gravity Rush is probably next.
Monster Hunter Frontier G came out two weeks ago on Vita. It's not free-to-play. It's subscription based with microtransactions. No one cares or likes that game.
Sony can't even get the PSone/PSP games on the North American Vita store. : /
Fun fact: "Megaton" actually was a phrase coined by V-Jump for something as pedestrian as a Naruto game announcement!
Given their name change, I imagine Medievil is down for the count. That was SCE Cambridge's series, not Guerilla's.
Medieval Moves: Deadmund's Quest was released, but it actually has nothing to do with the Sir Dan series.
you really gonna throw IQ stones when using the wrong "its"?
