IT's not an artistic style. It's just easily done. Notice how most modern pixel games look like ass compared to old ones. Also when it especially comes to indies, all they do is copy one another. Take for example this list of games that all look alike.

That's putting it nicely. The game clearly is using Team Fortress 2 and CSGO's loot crate system. People have spent much too much money on just opening up crates already. It's funny how everything Blizzard does seems to get a free pass though.

On the topic of release dates with this game, it was supposed to come out in 2015. Let alone August in 2016 now. Don't take this as me condoning any threats. I'm just stating that this release date wasn't even announced early. This is possibly the third delay for the game.
